John Riady, B.A., MBA., JD. - Executive Dean of Business School, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences
John Riady received his Bachelor's in Political Science and Economics from Georgetown University; his MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania; and a Juris Doctor from Columbia University Law School. He is also a member of the NY Bar Association. Asides from teaching law at UPH, John is also Editor-at-large at Beritasatu Media Holdings; Chairman of the US-Indonesia Bilateral Committee at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KIKAS-KADIN); Member of the Global Agenda Council of the World Economic Forum; Serves on the Columbia University Law School International Advisory Board; and is Commissioner of Liga Mahasiswa (LIMA), Indonesia's national collegiate athletics league.
Dr. Kim Sung Suk - Associate Dean of Business School
Dr. Kim Sung Suk, B.A., M. Hum., M.Sc., joined UPH in January 2007 as Senior Lecturer to UPH. Starting January 2011, he has been serving as Acting Dean of Business School. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in History from the Korea University and then obtained his Master’s of Science in Finance and Dr. in Finance/Management from the University of Indonesia, Indonesia.
Prof. Dr. Bintan R. Saragih, SH - Acting Dean of Faculty of Law
He was graduated as a bachelor degree in Law at one of the famous government universities in Indonesia, Universitas Indonesia. After then he earned his Doctor degree at Universitas Padjajaran. Currently he serves as a Professor in Universitas Indonesia and being a member of PERSAHI (Persatuan Sarjana Hukum Indonesia).
Prof. Aleksius Jemadu, Ph.D - Dean of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences
Dean of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Universitas Pelita Harapan joined UPH on January 1, 2009. He got his Bachelor's degree in International Relations from Gadjah Mada University in 1986 and then obtained his MA degree in Social Sciences from University of Indonesia in 1992. In i996 he got his Ph.D degree from Department of Political Sciences, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL) Belgium. He was Research Fellow at Asia Research Institute (ARI, National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2004 and at the Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (currently Rajaratnam School of International Studies or RSIS), Singapore in 2005. He was also a visiting professor at Master Program in Cultures and Development Studies (CADES) Faculty of Social Sciences Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL) and the University of Antwerp Belgium November 2007.
Wellianto Halim, B.Sc., M.M. - Dean of Faculty of Computer Science
Wellianto Halim earned his Bachelor degree in Fu Jen Catholic University – Taipei – Taiwan and his Master of Management in University of Pelita Harapan. He has about 27 years experience in the Information Technology industry with a strong emphasis on multi-millions dollar full cycle implementations. For the past 27 years he has specialized in Application Software Development, System Engineering, Project Management, Budgetary Management, Research and Development, Business Systems Development and Re-engineering, IT Strategy and Planning, Organization Change Management, Operations Management, General Management, e-business models, e-business platform development, and more recently in Enterprise Banking IT Services & Application Management. He has banking technology skills in core banking system, front end switch application system, bank branch automation system, credit card application system, e-banking, whole range IBM midrange hardware, Wintel system platform, several operating systems platform, RDBMS & networking, middleware (Enterprise Service Bus – Service Oriented Architecture), Enterprise Architecture, e-business models and e-business platform technology.
Thompson Susabda Ngoen S.Kom, M.Sc. - Associate Dean of Faculty of Computer Science
Thompson Susabda Ngoen earned his advanced diploma and bachelor degree both from the Universitas Bina Nusantara majoring in Information Systems and obtained his master degree in computer science from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). He just joined UPH after 25 years of experience in computer science education. His research interest is in computer algorithms.
Elya Kurniawan Wibowo, S.Sn., M.A - Acting Dean of School of Design
Elya Kurniawan Wibowo, S.Sn., MA (Art & Design) received his Master Degree in Arts & Design from Auckland University of Technology, Auckland, New Zealand. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from Trisakti University, Indonesia, Diploma in Multimedia from National College of Design Technology, Auckland, New Zealand and currently studying part-time for his Master in Christian Studies (M.C.S) at International Reformed Evangelical Seminary (IRES/ STTRI Internasional), Indonesia. His research interests are in Theological Aesthetics and Reformational Philosophy. Converging issues and previous interests in Design Pedagogy, Cultural Studies, Visual Language, and Art History, his ongoing concern is how to establish Art and Design pedagogical approach that enables coherent philosophical and theological engagement to various competing worldviews in Aesthetics, and in Art and Design discipline in general. He believes that a holistic education in Art and Design must provide students not with knowledge and skills of utilizing their disciplines only as means to an end, but to engage their disciplines as inseparable articulation of being in the world. His dream is for holistic Art and Design education that enables student’s disciplinary understanding to continually evolve to edify society in response to any life reality they face.
Dra. Gunawaty Tjioe B. Ed., M. Pd., Ph. D. – Dean of the Faculty of Education
Dra. Gunawaty Tjioe B. Ed., M. Pd., Ph. D. received her doctoral degree in Educational Studies from Biola University, California. She holds the following degrees: Magister Pendidikan from Universitas Pelita Harapan, Indonesia; Bachelor of Education from Tabor College, Adelaide, Australia; and Doktoranda in English Language and Literature from Universitas Methodist Indonesia, Medan, Indonesia. She also had one year theological training at the International Theological Seminary, Los Angeles, USA, in 1995; and another year of training in early childhood education at Pasadena City College, California, USA. She was a teacher at Sekolah Pelita Harapan, Lippo Karawaci, Tangerang, before she joined UPH in 2006. Her research interest is in holistic and transformative Christian education. She believes that Christian schools and universities are called not to merely transfer facts or information to their students' minds but most importantly to bring about transformation in their students’ lives to better reflect the likeness of Christ Jesus. Her vision is to see holistic transformative education take place in the majority of the Christian schools in Indonesia.
Prof. Dr. Manlian Ronald A. Simanjuntak, ST., MT. - Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology
Manlian first joined UPH in 2001 as a lecturer in Architecture Department. As he earned his architecture bachelor degree in Institut Teknologi Indonesia (ITI) in 1998 and works as a professional, he teaches Construction Management Science consistently. After earning SIBP Architecture National Level and finishing his master degree in Civil Engineering at Universitas Indonesia in 2000, with the scholarship from UPH and his interest in Fire Safety, he obtained his doctoral degree in Civil Engineering Construction Management at Universitas Indonesia in 2006. In the same year, he had an opportunity to finish Doctor of Ministry/D.Min program in Leadership Transformational at Harvest International Theology of Seminary (HITS) in Lippo Karawaci. In 2005 he was trusted to keep the Professional Lecturer Certification as he managed to be the Academic Title Professor Level. He has served as Secretary of master program in Civil Engineering Construction Management UPH, and now he served as Head of master program in Civil Engineering Construction Management UPH. As per March 1, 2010, Manlian was appointed by the government as Lecturer Assessor Certification (Serdos) with certification NIRA: 101159004200765. Three months later, according to Decree of the Minister of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia No: 71538/A4.5/KP/2010, he was appointed as a Professor in Construction Management. On July 1, 2012, Manlian served concurrently as Dean Faculty of Design and Engineering Planning UPH. He also has served in some government institutions, such as: BAPPENAS, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Public Work, Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration, DKI Jakarta, Banten, Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Jakarta, P2B official of DKI Jakarta, Jakarta City Planning Agency, Office of Water Resources & Housing Banten Province), Professional Association (IAI, HAMKI, IAMPI, HAKI. MP2KI), universities (UI, ITB, ITI, UMT, STT Syaloom Lampung, STIE Jakarta), national contractor and counselor, and International associations (NFPA, CMAA, PMI, AIT).
Dr. Helena Margaretha, M.Sc. – Associate Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology
Dr. Helena Margaretha, M.Sc. joined the Department of Applied Mathematics Universitas Pelita Harapan in 2006. She graduated cum laude as the best graduate from Department of Mathematics Institut Teknologi Bandung in 1997, and earned M.Sc. and Dr. in Applied Mathematics from University of Twente, The Netherlands. Her study in The Netherlands was sponsored by the Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers (VNO-NCW) and the Maritime Research Institute Netherlands. She has been active in some organizations, for example the Ph.D. contact group of J.M. Burgerscentrum for Fluid Mechanics and organizing committee of some local and international conferences. She was also involved in a European Union Project for Indonesian Institution. Her research is in the area of applied mathematical analysis, in particular hydrodynamics and financial engineering. When dealing with students, her interest is in exploring new ways to help students discover their passions and potentials in science and mathematics.
Hendra Thamrindinata, S.Si., M.Div. - Acting Executive Dean of Faculty of Liberal Arts
Hendra Thamrindinata joined UPH in January 2010 as Lecturer of Religion, Comparative Religion, and Christian Worldview. Starting July 2012, he has been serving as Department Chair of Faculty of Liberal Arts and in the beginning of July 2013, he also serves as Acting Executive Dean of Faculty of Liberal Arts. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences, specialized in Physics, from Hasanuddin University, Makassar, South Sulawesi, and then obtained his master degree in Theology from Reformed Evangelical Seminary (STTRII), Jakarta, with research interests in historical and systematic theology. He did has experiences as high school teacher during 9 years before pursued his master degree. He hold the Kuyperian commitment that there is no single aspect of human life that Christ, the sovereign of all, doesn’t say, “It is Mine”, and he believes that the Reformed principle of the Sovereignty of the Triune God over the whole cosmos in all its spheres and kingdoms, visible and invisible, is the foundational principle for university education as the microcosm of life. As the embodiement of this commitment and principle, he actively engages in lecturing Biblical integration classess for UPH lecturers.
Prof. Dr. Dr. dr. Eka J Wahjoepramono SpBS. - Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences
Dean of the UPH Faculty of Medicine, joined the UPH in 2001 as a lecturer in Faculty of Medicine. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from University of Diponegoro, Semarang, Indonesia and continued to pursue his Neurosurgical Training degree at University of Padjajaran, Bandung, Indonesia. Chairman of Neuroscience Center Siloam Hospital, dr. Eka J. Wahjoepramono is also a member of many medical society such as President of the Congress Annual Scientific Meeting of Indonesian Society of Neurological Surgeons (PIT PERSPEBSI) 2006 and President elect of The Asian Oceanian International Congress On Skull Base Surgery, 2010-2012. His recent positions are Founder of Indonesia Brain Foundation and President elect of World Academy of Neurological Surgeons, Founder of World Academy of Neurological Surgeons.
Prof. George Mathew MBBS, MS,MD, FCAMS - Executive Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, President Medical Science Group
Dr. George Mathew has earned his degrees from the Christian Medical College Vellore (undergraduate and post graduate Medical training), undertook post doctoral Fellowship training in upper GI and Laparoscopic Surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in South Australia. He continued his postdoctoral research at the University of Adelaide, South Australia; during which time he was awarded the Davis & Geck Prize for the best research paper. His focus of research was on the study of the behavior of malignant cells in the Laparoscopic environment and the role of peritoneal immunity for which he was awarded the Doctorate in Surgery. He was appointed as Professor of Surgery at Christian Medical School in 1997 and then held the position of Head and Professor GI Surgery at Christian Medical College. He held the position of Vice Dean of the Medical College from 1997 to 2001 and as Dean of the Medical College in charge of all Medical, Allied Health and Research Courses. He was honoured with the Best Medical Administrator Award by MGR University for his services to Medical Education and Health Care Delivery. He was also honoured with the Mother of Teresa award for Excellence and the Eminent Medical Educationist Award. He chaired the undergraduate curriculum reform committee of the Medical Council of India. The main areas of his research interest are Molecular markers in early diagnosis of Gastrointestinal malignancies, marker for metatastic potential in malignat tumors, role of peritoneal immunity, use of virtual reality in medical training and the application of Robotics in Surgery. Dr. George Mathew joined UPH leaderships in October 2011 as the Executive Dean of UPH Faculty of Medicine. He is also the Executive Director of UPH Medical Sciences Group and the Executive Director of MRIN (Mochtar Riady Institute of Nanotechnology).
Antonius Priyanto, S.Ag., B.CM., M.Mus - Acting Dean of Conservatory of Music
Antonius Priyanto,B.CM., M.Mus received his Master of Music in Composition from University of The Philippines in 2011 with full scholarship from Universitas Pelita Harapan. During this period, he wrote his major work, ‘Vision of The Night’ (for Orchestra, Double Choirs and Soloists, and Live-Electronics), an opera based on the Book of Job. This one-act opera was premiered by Metro Manila Concert Orchestra under the baton of maestro Chino Toledo. He obtained the Bachelor in Church Music in 2005 under full-scholarship from the SAMBA-LIKHAAN: The Asian School of Worship and the Arts in Quezon City, Philippines, where he majored in both Voice and Choral Conducting. During this undergraduate study he wrote many Choral Compositions; mostly premiered by the Philippine Children’s Chorus and Vox Angelorum Choir (Jakarta), as well as his works were performed in several International Choral Competitions. Mr. Priyanto completed his Bachelor in Science of Religion from The Institute of Pastoral of Indonesia (IPI – Malang) with full scholarship. In the year 2005-6 he joined Sekolah Pelita Harapan (“SPH”, Lippo Village), as PYP and MYP music teacher. In 2006 he co-founded the Lippo Karawaci Community Choir & Orchestra and took the role as choir director until 2009. He currently teaches at Universitas Pelita Harapan’s Conservatory of Music since 2006. He views his vocation as composer, conductor and music educator as participation in God’s creative works of redemption. His highest joy is to see how the Lordship of Christ is manifested along the way in all his scientific and artistic endeavors.
Christine L. Sommers, MN, RN, CNE - Executive Dean of Faculty of Nursing & Allied Health Sciences
Christine Sommers joined UPH in August 2012 as a lecturer in Faculty of Nursing. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Cedarville University in 1989, her Master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Washington in 1992, and her post-master’s certificate in nursing education from Washington State University in 2010. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Nursing from the University of Kansas. She has over 20 years experience as an intensive care nurse and nurse educator. She is certified as a nurse educator and is a CCRN Emeritus. She has enjoyed having the opportunity to present seminars to nurses and other healthcare providers in several different countries and throughout Indonesia. Mrs. Christie is committed to serving Christ through excellence in teaching and mentoring others. She has a desire to make a difference wherever God places her to serve Him.
Dr. Yonathan Aditya - Dean of Faculty of Psychology
Dr. Yonathan Aditya earned his doctoral degree in counseling psychology (major in clinical counseling) from De La Salle University, Manila. His counseling orientation is influenced by Choice Theory/Reality Therapy. Yonathan's research interests are in close relationships, positive psychology, and spirituality.
Dr. Diena Mutiara Lemy, A.Par, M.M. - Chief of School of Hospitality and Tourism
Diena Mutiara Lemy, has started her academic career with UPH since 1997 as the Deputy Head of Travel Industry Management. She then become the Head of Travel Industry Management Dept. from 2000 – 2004 and The Head of Hospitality Management Dept. from 2005 – June 2012. She received her Diploma IV from Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata (STP) Bandung, majoring in Tourism Management. Her Master Degree is obtained from Pelita Harapan University, and in 2010 she obtained her Doctoral Degree from Trisakti University, majoring in Service Management. As a tourism and hospitality management lecturer, she is also active in several activities conducted by The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. Today she holds the position of Secretary General of The Association of Indonesia Tourism Higher Education (Hildiktipari – Himpunan Lembaga Pendidikan Tinggi Pariwisata Indonesia).
Dr. Lusiana Idawati, S.T., M.M., M.T. - Associate Provost
Dr. Lusiana Idawati has earned degrees from the University of Indonesia (Dr. – Doctoral Degree in Philosophy and M.T. - Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, majoring in Construction Management), Atmajaya University, Jakarta (M.M. - Master’s Degree in Management, majoring in Financial Management) and Udayana University, Denpasar (S.T. - Bachelor in Architecture). She also took an intensive training in teaching English as a foreign language, sponsored by LBPP LIA, Jakarta. She joined UPH in October 2003 as the Administration Director of the Faculty of Law, before moving to the Faculty of Design and Planning in 2004. She was the Director of Academic Quality and Special Projects Unit before appointed as Associate Provost. Her research interest is in the area of Ethics, Aesthetics, Philosophy of Science and Research Methodology.
