“Creating Technological Business Opportunities”
Objectives
The master of Industrial Engineering program is designed to produce professional managers and academic personnel with:
- Competency to create technological business opportunities.
- Competency to compete in the globalization era.
- Competency to enable companies to effectively encapsulate the concept of quality into the daily operations of their organizations.
- Readiness to face globalization challenges in the cyber era.
The Program
The program offers an integration of science, engineering, management skills and knowledge, and systematic implementation and application especially in the fields of technology.
The program has two concentrations: Engineering Management, and Quality Engineering Management. Each concentration is spread over four semesters. (38 credits)
Engineering Management
The concentration focuses on the knowledge and strategic thinking based on technology, enriched by business perspective. Students are equipped with knowledge in management aspect of strategic technology, investment analysis, e-Business, and information system management aspect in industry with a particular concept of quality.
Quality Engineering Management
Quality management in goods and services sectors has gained increasing importance over the last few decades and as an industry has spawned new career opportunities for business and technical professionals. There is a need for qualified managers in this field in order to enable companies to effectively encapsulate the concept of quality into the daily operations of their organizations. It is the study of modern management and productivity improvement concepts and techniques. A drive for improved quality requires a change in the whole company culture, including increased quality control from both internal and external sources. The degree is designed to equip decision makers and managers with the tools necessary to implement and manage quality systems within organizations.
The MIEQEM (Master of Industrial Engineering in Quality Engineering Management) program seeks to educate graduates so that they are able to utilize the knowledge attained to promote and enhance their managerial careers. In addition to this, the program is structured in a manner where experienced managers with relevant professional experience acquire additional knowledge and expertise in global management issues. All courses within the program are designed for a rapidly changing world with innovation, market-relevance, flexibility and an international focus at their core. The program attempts to provide candidates with the necessary skills and competencies to manage their skills effectively in a challenging and changing global environment, to prepare graduates for careers in management positions in both public and private sectors.
