PRESS RELEASE | MEDIA COVERAGE | ADVERTISING | ANNUAL REPORT  | | Business School January 2007 played an important role in the Business School’s development, as we implemented the new international-standard curriculum. Furthermore, on April 23, 2007, the UPH Business School was officially launched. During this year, we were able to invite a number of distinguished CEO, CFO, and business professionals to join our lecturer team. We also succeeded in conducting a partnership with PT. Matahari Putra Prima to provide Management training for the company’s employees. We also sent two students to the student exchange program. These students (Dino Augusto and Ajeng) had the opportunity to spend a semester at HES Amsterdam while 4 HES Amsterdam students studied at UPH. Overall, we can conclude that 2007 has been a great year for UPH Business School. | | | | |  | | Faculty of Design and Planning 2007 has been a great year for the Faculty of Design and Planning. Our enrollment has grown 14 % from 1390 to 1585 students. We have also conducted partnerships with the University of Hanzehogeschool Groningen, The Netherlands for our Civil Engineering department and Queensland University of Technology, Australia for our Interior Design department in conducting Dual degree programs. Also this year, our faculty member, Mr. Yongky Safanayong earned his Professor degree in Visual Communication Design. | | | | |  | | Faculty of Social and Political Science In 2007 the total number of students in the Faculty of Social & Political Sciences, both in Communication and International Relations, has significantly increased from 1724 ( in 2006) to 1976 (2007). This year, as a commitment to excellent education, we opened a Master Program in Communication. One of our Faculty members, Dr. Tjipta Lesmana, MA, MARS earned his Professorship in Political Communication and a collaboration with IAA (International Advertising Association) in New York was also established this year. | | | | |  | | Faculty of Industrial Technology The graduates of the faculty have recently recognized in overseas universities. Four fresh graduates from this faculty were accepted at the master program at Kyungsung University, Busan, South Korea. One faculty member has completed his term as visiting professor at Kyungsung University. A number of lecturers actively participated in IEEE Distinguished Lecturer Program (January), International Conference of Electrical Engineering and Informatics ICEEI in Bandung (June) and Micro-Optics Conference (MOC) in Japan (October). | | | | |  | | School of Tourism Although increasing new students in STPPH in 2007 was not significant, Hospitality and Tourism is still one of the favorite programs for new students.The partnership with two prestigious Hospitality and Tourism Institutions in Switzerland and with Bournemouth University in U.K. are going well. In 2007, we added another partnership ship with Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) in U.S.A. April 2007, was a great time for the students of Hospitality Management represented by their HMJ, a certification from Mr. Jaya Suprana founder of MURI for the biggest Ginger Bread House ever made.
| | | | |  | | School of Law This year, the School of Law was again Accredited A. Our graduates have grown 41 % from 36 to 51 Bachelor of Laws, we have also conducted two big events : 1. National Seminar on Human Trafficking with speakers from Murdoch University Australia and the Directorate of Human Rights, 2. WTO Dispute Settlement Seminar and Workshop in cooperation with USAid- ITAP (Indonesian Trade Assistance Project). Overall, we can state that 2007 has been a wnderful year for us. | | | | | | | | |  | | Faculty of Computer Science Faculty of computer science (FCS) was established in 2002 as development of Faculty of Industrial Technology. FCS has 3 departments; Information systems, informatics (software engineering), and computer engineering. In 2007, the Computer engineering department has the highest growth of new students (80 %). FCS has implemented certification as part of the curriculum like Cisco and IBM. This year FCS organized a call for paper seminar in computer science field and scientific writing championship. Our significant achievements this year are increasing graduated students, increasing GPA, shorter study period, and earn the best graduate title. | | | | |  | | Faculty of Medicine Our new students in Faculty of Medicine have decreased 22.22% from 99 to 77 students. We have conducted partnership with: Sam Ratulangi University, Manado, in conducting mentorship programs, Maranatha Christian University, Bandung, to develop curriculum based competency, and Airlangga University, Surabaya, in conducting specialization programs. For faculty improvement, the numbers of faculty members have increased especially for full-time lecturers; we have 6 new lecturers, in 2007, and 56 new part-time lecturers. Another achievement for Faculty of Medicine in 2007 is graduating 59 students for Bachelor of Medicine, and for Professional Medical Doctor degree we graduated 27 students. We also have two international publications. | | | | |  | | Conservatory of Music In 2007, the Conservatory of Music expanded its area of study into 12 different concentrations. This was a significant breakthrough in embracing various kind of musical talents and diverse market demands; at the same time, this specialization of music study with more focused curriculum enables us to elevate the music competency level of our students.
| | | | |  | | Faculty of Psychology In 2007, Faculty of Psychology had a significant enrollment growth. The number of students enrolling in Psychology increased almost 75%, from 90 to 157. Faculty also added various psychology test kits in the laboratory. This laboratory serves as a site where students can implement what they have learned, and also for community service activities, such as talent test for high school students. Thus, it confirms that the Faculty of Psychology has improved. | | | | |  | | Faculty of Education 2007 has been a year of milestones for the Faculty of Education. We continue to witness the milestones of our students and graduates: Dessy Paramitha Putri won the 2007 JAL Scholarship, and Yudyca Putra is the 2007 Mahasiswa Teladan III UPH. Our faculty members, who are among the best in their fields, have again proven their records as academics, researchers and practitioners throughout 2007. Dr. Clara Citraningtyas presented her papers at international conferences in Kyoto and in Indonesia; Dr. Hananto got his doctorate. All of our faculty members actively publish in journals. | | | | |  | | Faculty of Science and Mathematics The faculty also held its first graduation (from Physics Department) and from total 16 graduates, 9 students have delivered their final project results in regional and international conferences/publications (4 Asia, 5 international). Two of our graduates received full-scholarships for Master study from Erasmus-Mundus Scholarship from the European Union and Scholarship from Singapore-MIT Alliance to execute Master study at NUS and MIT. This year, 3 students achieved the award of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd best participants in the Research Workshop on Inverse Modeling in The Natural Sciences, held by LabMath-Indonesia in collaboration with ITB, TU Delft (The Netherlands), and AWI Germany. |
