XXI Century is an information age. Since we were at Elementary School, we have introduced what the computer is, what are the functions of computer. In High School, curiosity and ability to deepen the computer science, much incredibly increasing nowadays. The ability of High School students to make a Scientific Work based computer technology, was tested in Kompetisi Karya Ilmiah (KKI) which held by Computer Science Faculty UPH, at UPH Karawaci, Thursday, November 13, 2008.

The event was followed from 10 High Schools in Jakarta and Tangerang, such as SMA BPK Penabur, SMAK IPEKA Sunter, SMA St. Laurensia, and SMAN II Tangerang. “The participants showed the combination and application program tools. It’s really good and prospectus.” said Mr. Paulus, the Head of UPH Information System Informatics Faculty.

The participants brought some applicative topics that really close with daily life, such as making the learning program for Elementary School, calculating program for electricity saving, etc. “We have prepared this stuff during six months by doing research, observation and program testing,’’ said Anto as the participants ‘guide and the computer teacher of St.Laurensia Senior High School.
 
The competition used presentation method to the comity that contain of three lecturers of Information Technology Faculty of UPH in 15 minutes. “The length of time is very short, and the question is really hard to answer.”, said Safifudin as SMAN II Tangerang about the competition process.

Faculty of Computer Science UPH offered some excess than the other Computer Science program, such as Hacker International Certification (CCNI) and Official Certification from IBM for its graduates. “By this international certification, UPH graduates can be easier accepted in International Company “said Fransiskus, the Head of Computer Engineering UPH.

In this competition, the participants from St.Laurensia made the software for learning program, Kindergarten and Elementary students. They successfully attached the First Winner; the second winner was SMAN 2 Tangerang with integral application by polygon technique. First winner for this KKI, be entitled to 3 million rupiahs, certificate and 1 dozen international books, Second winner be entitled to 1 million rupiahs, certificate and 3 international books.

“Lesson is not only from book, but also from the application of computer in the environment.” said Feri as the First Winner with his group from SMA St.Laurensia.
