Team from UPH Business School Won 1st Place during Accounting and Business Competition 2017
For the second time, the team from Accounting Department of Business School UPH successfully became the 1st Winner of ‘The Accounting and Business Competition’ or D’ABC.

For the second time, the team from Accounting Department of Business School UPH successfully became the 1st Winner of ‘The Accounting and Business Competition’ or D’ABC. Previously, the team had achieved the same accomplishment during D’ABC 2016. This time, UPH team was represented by Alexander Dylan (Accounting 2013), Cicilia M. Wijaya and Calvina (Accounting 2014).


Business School UPH always supports students’ academic developments; one of the attempts is through participation in various competitions. Lecturers will also provide students with guidance and direction for teams who are going to join a competition.


“Hopefully through this achievement, Business School UPH can enhance the quality of its students, because by becoming a part of various competitions, they can hone their talents and competency,” said Anton Herusatya, who supervised the teams from Business School UPH.


This competition was followed by 16 teams from various renowned universities around Indonesia such as Universitas Indonesia (2 teams), Universitas Widya Mandala (1 team), PKN- STAN (2 teams), Universitas Parahyangan (2 teams), Universitas Surabaya (2 teams) and other universities from various regions.

For this competition, Business School UPH sent 2 teams: Team 1 UPH with Alexander Dylan (Accounting 2013), Cicilia M. Wijaya and Calvina (Accounting2014); and Team 2 UPH with Welly M (Dual Degree 2013), Bella Nathania and Raymond (Accounting 2014).


This annual competition was held on February 17-18, 2017, at Binus International Campus and this competition has been held for the third time by ASC (Accounting Student Club) of Binus International University. The theme for this year’s  D’ABC was “360 Degrees of Accounting Profession” which intends to enhance participants’ accounting competency in a holistic way; so that participants will be able to cope with the needs and challenges of the modern world, through analytical thinking, critical evaluation and cognitive abilities.


This competition was divided into three rounds: the first one is elimination round with a MCQ-Multiple Choice Question (individual), Essay Question (in groups) and Puzzle (in groups) challenges. This round resulted in 12 chosen teams out of 16 teams. Afterward, there were questions with ‘passing around’ system to choose 10 teams who will enter the finals. Then, in the semifinal round (Running Accountant), each group would have to move from post to post to work on problems of various subjects. From this round, 3 teams with the highest score would be chosen for the finals. On the final round, each team will be given an audit case; where they would have to work on 6 problems and explain their answers in front of the panelists which consisted of representatives from PWC (PricewaterhouseCoopers),IAPI (Indonesian Institute of Certified Public Accountants) and IAI (Indonesian Chartered Accountant Association).
