In Response to ‘Independence Campus’ Policy, UPH Assembles 12 Industrial Partners in a Company Gathering.

The ‘Independent Campus’ program promoted by the Minister of Education and Culture has been implemented by UPH and is being improved everyday. As a campus that fully supports this policy, UPH believes that the collaboration between educational institutions and the industry becomes very important in order to prepare work-ready and professional graduates. The Career Center & Corporate Relations Department of UPH has partnered with more than 50 companies in various fields and has frequently held Company Gathering. In this particular Company Gathering, UPH officially added 12 industries to its list of partnering industries through a signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on February 14, 2020, at the MYC MPR building of UPH Lippo Village.

The Company Gathering was held to strengthen the relation between UPH and partnering industries, as well as to gather insights that may enhance the quality of their collaboration. This collaboration enables a variety of events to occur such as career briefing, internship, job recruitment, and knowledge sharing from partnering industries. Surely, UPH will always be committed to expand their collaboration with various industries.

UPH Rector, Dr. (Hon) Jonathan L. Parapak, M.Eng.Sc., really welcomed the collaboration and even sees the occasion as a means to answer the ‘Independent Campus’ policy.

“Collaboration with these 12 companies will undergo continuous development as needed, such as through the internship opportunities that might be offered to students later on. This development will ensure that UPH graduates are equipped with skills and are work-ready. We are very grateful for the ‘Free to Learn’ notion that the minister promoted because of its great aspects. Firstly, it encourages institutions like UPH to be creative. Secondly, it urges institutions to follow technological development. UPH has applied the ‘Independent Campus’ policy and will keep developing it to prepare our students even better,” said the Rector of UPH.

Moreover, Stephani Riady – Vice Rector in Marketing, External Cooperation, and Business Development, also said that within 5 years, the education world will experience changes and developments. What used to be a classroom-based community will soon turn to be community-based and borderless.

“The Minister’s policy in relation to the education system has made us realize that we have to start doing partnerships with industries. We believe that the industry is going to contribute and help us to create skillful and impactful graduates for a better future of our country,” said Stephanies as she welcomed the partnering industries.
The MoU signing was carried out by the Rector of UPH and a representative of partnering industries, namely PT Hay Group, PT Mitra Adi Perkasa, Tbk, PT Charoen Pokphan Indonesia, Tbk, PT Raksasa Laku Lintang (Ralali.com), and many more.

As a representative of the companies, Albertha Sekundarti – Human Resources General Manager of PT MAP Aktif Adiperkasa, Tbk, said that this collaboration is a part of MAP Aktif’s Human Resources development strategy.
“The collaboration with UPH is a part of our effort to develop a talent management program. In order to obtain skilled human resources, we have to know how they were taught. We have talked about the kind of collaborations that we will do including internship, knowledge sharing, and many more. Through this collaboration, we wanted to have employees who are tough, dynamic, and passionate, and we are looking for all these in UPH. There have been a number of UPH graduates who are currently working with MAP and we have seen their quality. UPH graduates have dynamic characteristics and can easily adapt to rapid changes,” Albertha explained.

This event was held alongside a Job Fair with 50 companies which was held from February 14 to 15, 2020, at the D building of UPH Lippo Village. There were a wide variety of companies that were present in this event including banking companies, media, insurance, IT Solution, retails, startups, education, hotel, and many more.
