Sel surya komersil yang banyak diproduksi sekarang adalah yang berbasis silikon dengan biaya yang tidak murah, karena membutuhkan teknologi proses bersuhu tinggi yang mahal. Saat ini, para peneliti sudah menemukan perovskite yang hadir sebagai alternatif dengan biaya pembuatan yang lebih murah karena tidak membutuhkan suhu tinggi dan dapat dilakukan di lab. kimia biasa. Fakta inilah yang dijelaskan oleh Dr. M. Danang Birowosuto, M.Sc., nara sumber dalam kegiatan kuliah tamu yang diadakan pada 5 November 2018 di Gedung B 550 UPH Lippo Village ini.<\/p>\n<p>Danang menjabat sebagai Senior Research Fellow CNRS-International NTU-Thales Research Alliance (CINTRA). Dalam kuliah tamu kali ini, ia memaparkan berbagai aplikasi dari perovkite dan potensi bisnisnya, baik untuk sel surya, laser, LED, detektor sinar X, maupun sinar gamma. Kelebihan perovskite adalah biaya pembuatannya yang murah, proses pembuatannya yang relatif mudah, yang bahkan bisa menggunakan printing technology.<\/p>\n<p>Material ini sudah dikomersialkan di luar negeri, bahkan di London, Inggris, telah didirikan perusahaan start-up yang bergerak di bidang penjualan sel surya perovskite. Karena itu, penting bagi generasi muda Indonesia, secara khusus para calon engineer, untuk memiliki wawasan mengenai perovskite.<\/p>\n<p>Menurut Dr. Ir. Henri P. Uranus, M.T., Ketua Prodi Teknik Elektro UPH, perovskite ini sebenarnya telah diperkenalkan kepada mahasiswa Prodi Teknik Elektro UPH melalui mata kuliah optoelektronika ketika mereka belajar mengenai kristal lithium niobate, hanya saja dalam bentuk dan untuk aplikasi yang lain. Jadi dari kuliah tamu ini, bertambah lagi pengetahuan mahasiswa mengenai perovskite, serta potensinya yang bisa dikembangkan.<\/p>\n<p>?Karena proses pembuatannya yang mudah, dan bisa dilakukan di laboratorium biasa, perovskite ini sebenarnya bisa dikembangkan juga di Indonesia. Dalam proses pembuatannya nanti bisa menjalin kerja sama dengan orang-orang dari Teknik Kimia juga,? tambah Danang.<\/p>\n<p>Lebih lanjut, Henri juga menuturkan tentang tujuan diadakannya berbagai kuliah tamu di Prodi Teknik Elektro UPH. ?Prodi Teknik Elektro UPH memang secara berkala mengadakan kuliah tamu di tiap semester. Ini untuk membuka wawasan para mahasiswa, sehingga mereka tidak hanya tahu materi yang dipelajari di dalam kelas, tapi juga tahu tentang perkembangannya di dunia riset dan dunia industri saat ini,? terangnya.
