Various events enliven the International Community for Students (ICS) Cultural Week festival held at the UPH campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

ICS as a student activity unit at UPH is committed to promote and bring the various activities, cultures, and trends from various countries to UPH students. To represent it, the theme at ICS Cultural Week 2017 is ‘Beyond Time’, with the aim of introducing the changing times that have taken place in various forms, such as culture, language, traditional cuisine, dance, historical landmarks, etc. to engage remembering the history and international culture for the members of Pelita Harapan University.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

To mark the opening of this celebration, ICS held Flag Parade which is a flag parade from various countries. The flagship of this parade was held on September 25, 2017, at UPH Park, followed by various dances from several countries which were exhibited by International Teachers College (ITC) students including Nepal, Philippines, Bangladesh, Korea to Kenya.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On the second day, Tuesday 26 Sept followed by Cultural Walk, a fashion show with various costumes from various countries and era, including the King and Queen Costume from Great Britain, 70 ? 90s era. Moreover, there was also a pair of students majoring in International Relations featuring American costumes from the 80s, with the theme ‘Great Gatsby’, a famous story from F. Scott Fitzgerald.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

According to <\/span>Astria Manta, <\/span>UPH International student of 2015 as the committee chairman of ICS Cultural Week 2017; the theme this year wants to invite the students to remember and not forget the cultures and events in the past. He added that the current fashion trend which became the current trend has also been a trend in the previous years.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“The current Fashion trend is actually repeating from the past, they do not forget the culture, but still it brought to the current trend. Hence the fashion that just held was greatly representing the Time Travel – Beyond Time, ” said Astria.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Several workshops were also held on the second day, including Pottery Workshop hosted by Geoffrey Tjakra, SoD UPH lecturer and a photography workshop from Pelita Harapan Photography Community (PHPC).<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In Pottery Workshop participants are invited to make a small bowl with the pinching technique which is a basic technique but important in the process of pottery. Besides equipping the participants with the skill of making ceramics, Geoffrey while giving instructions and making example techniques, he also shared the history of ceramic information in various parts of the world, especially Japan and China and the battle of a war power with ceramics as one of the symbols of a dynasty.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Astria said that this workshop is also one of the supports for the movement to not forget a history. Because she thinks, like in the general information, one of the cultural relics objects from the past, the most people hunted are ceramics.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Not only workshops, competitions and parades, the concept was also translated in the iconic of a landmark decorations along the UPH park in a form of World War II plane, also the human-size red telephone box which popular in England. This certainly makes series of events more vibrant.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

ICS Cultural Week 2017 will be held in a week since September 25 to30 and closed at the peak of the Saturday performance in Supermal Karawaci.(tm)
