Kemajuan teknologi informasi yang sangat cepat, menciptakan perubahan dalam berbagai bidang. Thomas Frey, seorang  futurist speaker mengatakan,  ?by 2030 over 50% of Colleges will Collapse? (2013). <\/em>Pernyataan tersebut disampaikan Dr. Khoe Yao Tung, M.Sc.Ed., M.Ed., dosen Program  Magister Pendidikan (M.Pd.) UPH, saat membawakan seminar yang mengangkat topik ?Learning Management System: How to Communicate with the Millenials? pada acara Headmater Gathering yang berlangsung  Jumat, 9 Juni 2017, di Hotel J.W. Marriot Jakarta.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Menurut Frey, sebagaimana dikutip Dr. Khoe, perubahan ini disebabkan oleh tren permintaan layanan pendidikan online<\/em> yang terus meningkat tajam dari tahun ke tahun. Dukungan layanan pendidikan tersebut tak terlepas dari inovasi komunikasi Web<\/em> dan aplikasi Android yang terus berkembang melalui ?innovation through inovation.?<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Khoe juga mengutip Andreas Scheicher (Google Education Seminar, 9-11 November 2015), yang mengatakan bahwa saat ini guru-guru berusaha mendidik anak-anak abad ke-21, sementara para guru-guru dari abad ke-20 dan struktur persekolahan masih mengikuti abad 19. Dr. Khoe menambahkan, ciri-ciri  anak-anak abad ke-21 atau Milenials umumnya memiliki ketergantungan pada  gadget, internet, berita on demand <\/em>dan sosial media.<\/span><\/p>\n

?Mau tidak mau, hal ini harus diantisipasi para pendidik,? ungkap Dr. Khoe kepada  67 peserta Head Master Gathering.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

Mengantisipasi kondisi tersebut, Dr. Khoe memaparkan pentingnya  Learning Management System<\/em> atau LSM sebagai solusi bagi para pendidik dalam berkomunikasi dengan para siswa yang merupakan generasi milenials. LSM sendiri dalam bidang pendidikan merupakan aplikasi perangkat lunak yang digunakan oleh kalangan pendidik, baik universitas \/ perguruan tinggi dan sekolah sebagai media pembelajaran online berbasis internet (e-learning<\/em>).<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

“Dengan LSM proses belajar dapat dilakukan dimana saja, kapan saja, melalui collaboration, real time, interactive, multimedia, <\/em>dan multi-access. <\/em>Dengan demikian prinsip dalam layanan LSM adalah  self-service, self-guided <\/em>dan engagement,”<\/em> jelas Dr. Khoe. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Meskipun demikian, ia menambahka,  peran guru tetap sangat penting. Sebagaimana ia mengutip dari pernyataan Bill Gate, ?Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is the most important<\/em>.”  <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Kepada para peserta Dr. Khoe menegaskan, pendapat Bill Gate tersebut menepis pernyataan Thomas Frey di awal, yang mengatakan bahwa tahun 2030 nanti sekolah akan collapse.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Mengakhiri paparannya Dr. Khoe menyimpulkan bahwa peran guru tak pernah tergantikan dengan teknologi digital.  <\/span><\/p>\n

“Guru berperan penting dalam tugasnya sebagai model dan membentuk karakter. Sementara teknologi digital hanyalah alat untuk memfasilitasi proses belajar untuk mencapai proses pembelajaran yang berhasil. Dan teknologi memungkinkan proses mendidik lebih efesien dan efektif. Beberapa keuntungan proses belajar dengan teknologi digital, diantaranya lebih creative, colaboration, communication <\/em>dan critical thinking,” <\/em>tambahnya.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Namun sebagai penutup Dr. Khoe mengingatkan bahwa masyarakat kita, khususnya generasi muda kita belum dibekali dengan pendidikan yang cukup  dalam pemanfaatan teknologi informasi. Karena itu peran guru juga sangat penting untuk membimbing siswa agar menggunakan gadget secara bijaksana dan bertanggung jawab. (rh)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
