Julia Tan Presented Her Ideas during Dean?s Talk SoD <\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

 <\/p>\n

The series of 2016 Dean?s Talk was finally closed by the leaders of UPH School of Design (SoD) on Saturday, October 22, 2016. Dean?s talk was held to introduce the curriculum, vision mission as well as the learning method which has been applied in SoD UPH.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This time, Dean?s Talk was attended by the leaders of SoD UPH, such as: Elya Wibowo ? Dean, Julia Tan ? Executive Dean,  Alfiansyah Zulkarnain ? Head of the Visual Communication Design Department (VCD), Naldo Yanuar ? Vice Head VCD Department, Devanny Gumulya ? Head of Product Design Department, Susi Hartanto ? Vice Head of Product Design Department, Susy Gunawan ? Head of Interior Design Department, Stanley Wangsadihardja ? Head of Architecture Department and Undi Gunawan ? Vice Head of Architecture Department.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The event began when Julia Tan started a thorough introduction of UPH School of Design, starting from facilities, the activities in Major Students Association (HMJ), as well as other things that has to be prepared during their studies here. On the same occasion, she also talked about three important things which have to be owned by a design student. They are talent, creativity, and passion.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

?Talent is the competency to draw, with a confirmation from other people?s assessment; creativity is the ability to realize one?s ideas and imagination; while passion is the strong urge from within, that encourages someone to do a particular thing. For example, when we do a certain thing, we might feel like time flies so fast and from that, we can call it passion. These three things is very important for design student because it will be the ones that encourages them to keep on learning,? Julia explained. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Elya Wibowo continued with a more comprehensive explanation on design studies. According to her, design studies doesn?t stand alone, it involves other disciplines in its application. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

?Design studies and architecture are like crossroad in a station. Other disciplines are very important in terms of interpreting and creating works in this field,? Elya stated.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

After that, the event was continued with a presentation from each Department and a Q&A session. At the end of the event, participants followed a Campus Tour which was led by the Marketing and Admission team of UPH.<\/span><\/p>\n
