Salah satu alat musik tradisional yang menarik minatnya adalah gamelan dari Indonesia, dan Ia telah memainkan alat musik gamelan selama 23 tahun,<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">&nbsp;hingga menjadikannya sebagai spesialis terapis musik dengan gamelan.&nbsp;<span>Di Inggris, Dr. Loth telah menggunakan gamelan sebagai musik terapi dalam kliniknya, untuk menangani berbagai kelompok kebutuhan khusus seperti, dalam psikiatri dan untuk orang-orang dengan gangguan makan, serta dengan anak-anak dengan ketidakmampuan belajar dan keluarga mereka.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p> <span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 15.3333px;\">D<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-  height: 15.3333px;\">alam seminar&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 15.3333px;\">yang disampaikan di kampus UPH, Dr. Loth&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-  height: 15.3333px;\">menampilkan berbagai cuplikan video yang menampilkan praktik terapi musik&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 15.3333px;\">untuk kelompok anak berkebutuhan khusus dengan&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 15.3333px;\">menggunakan gamelan.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 15.3333px;\">&nbsp;Dalam adegan tersebut, anak-anak tersebut&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 15.3333px;\">diberi kesempatan untuk mengungkapkan emosi mereka<\/span><span style=\"font-  size: 10pt; line-height: 15.3333px;\">&nbsp;dengan&nbsp;<span>aktivitas permainan gamelan, yang diawasi oleh para&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 15.3333px;\">terapis<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"height: 200px;\">\n<td style=\"border: 0px dashed #bbbbbb;width:1350px;height: 200px;\">\n<table style=\"border: 0px dashed #bbbbbb;height: 12px;width:1350px;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr style=\"height: 274.74px;\">\n<td style=\"border: 0px dashed #bbbbbb;width:1350px;height: 274.74px;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 8pt; line-height: 12.2667px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-85\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uph.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/images_news_2016_10_a-img_7932-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"178\" height=\"274\" \/>Dr. Helen Loth<br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td style=\"border: 0px dashed #bbbbbb;width:1350px;height: 274.74px;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 16.5px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">Menurut Dr. Loth, selain untuk&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">anak berkebutuhan khusus, penggunaan&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">g<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">amelan&nbsp; dalam terapi musik juga sangat bermanfaat bagi pasien usia lanjut. Seperti halnya demensia,&nbsp;<em>alzheimer<\/em>, dan depresi yang dapat terbantu melalui terapi musik ini.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"height: 200px;\">\n<td style=\"border: 0px dashed #bbbbbb;width:1350px;height: 200px;\">\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">Usai menyaksikan cuplikan video, para peserta seminar yang terdiri dari mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Seni UPH, dan peserta dari universitas dan institusi lainnya, diajak untuk memainkan&nbsp; dan merasakan alunan musik gamelan. Kesempatan ini disambut antusias oleh para peserta yang maju ke panggung memainkan s<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">eperangkat alat musik gamelan lengkap dengan sederetan gong di sisinya. Meski tanpa persiapan apapun, para peserta tetap dapat memainkan gamelan tersebut dan menghasilkan harmoni yang indah didengar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 16.5px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">Dalam menyampaikan sesinya,&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">Dr. Loth&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">sangat lihai menarik&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">perhatian peserta dengan berbagai cara, seperti bernyanyi sambil membawa gitar hingga bernyanyi berkeliling mengitari bangku peserta.&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">Tidak heran bila kehadirannya dan materi yang disampaikannya memberikan kesan mendalam kepada para peserta<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">. Salah satunya bagi Roswina Amelinda, salah satu peserta yang berprofesi sebagai Psikolog yang datang dari kota Bandung.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 16.5px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">?Seminar ini seru, dan membuka wawasan baru mengenai gamelan. Instrumen lokal Indonesia, yang ternyata sudah terkenal di luar negeri untuk pentas dan juga terapi. Saya pun tertarik untuk mempelajari gamelan lebih jauh lagi?,&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">katanya<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 16.5px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">Mengenai perkembangan terapi musik di Indonesia, Dr. Loth menjelaskan bahwa dirinya cukup antusias melihat klinik terapi musik sudah mulai dibangun di&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">Indonesia. Salah satunya yang ada di Fakultas Ilmu Seni UPH<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">. Menurut&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">dia<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">, perkembangan terapi musik di Indonesia bukanlah suatu hal yang mustahil<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">, dan<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">&nbsp;dapat berjalan baik apabila masyarakat juga mau membuka diri terhadap terapi musik ini.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 16.5px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">Di sisi lain, popularitas Gamelan Jawa di negara lain khususnya Inggris sudah berkembang dengan baik. ?Di sana sudah ada kolaborasi antara gamelan dan musik elektronik. Kami berusaha menarik minat anak muda terhadap gamelan?, Dr. Loth menjelaskan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 16.5px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">Di Indonesia, Dr. Loth juga banyak diundang untuk mensosialisasikan alat musik gamelan sebagai media terapi. Secara khusus di UPH, Dr. Loth diundang untuk mengajar mahasiswa konsentrasi Musik Terapi, dengan topik ?Music Therapy and Cultural Contexts? selama tiga hari, tanggal 7-9 September 2016. Projek ini bagian dari kerjasama UPH dengan&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-  height: 20px;\">Anglia Ruskin University, UK<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 16.5px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 20px;\">?Saya berharap acara ini dapat memperluas wawasan mahasiswa dan terinspirasi dengan praktek terapi musik di negara lain.
