In the framework of the activities of Tri Dharma College for government programs to empower the community on an ongoing basis through a synergy with the business world, Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) together with Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) and Swiss German University (SGU) organized a National Conference of PKM and CSR on the UMN Campus on October 20-21, 2015 with the theme “Synergy of Higher Education and the World Business for Sustainable Community Development.” This activity is a means to bring together devotees and research universities with the business world in order to synergize the Community Service program (PKM) within the higher education with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the business world.<\/span><\/p>\n

The National Conference of PKM and CSR 2015 was attended by over 200 participants and was opened by the Head of Social Services Banten, Nandy Mulya, representing the Governor of Banten Province and attended by Dr. Ninok Leksono, Rector of UMN, Edward Boris Manurung, M. Eng., Vice Rector II of SGU, as well as the chairman of the LPPM, Prof. Dr.-Ing., Harianto Hardjasaputra (UPH), Dr. P. M. Winarno (UMN) and Dr. Evita P. Legowo (SGU).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this conference, the keynote speaker is present, Dr. Eng. Hotmatua Daulay, M. Eng., B.Eng., Director of Technology Development and Industry representing the Minister of Research and Technology of Higher Education<\/span>, whom describes the challenges of higher education and companies in the era of the ASEAN Economic Community. In the panel session, speakers from Kemenristek Higher Education, Victoriana Suhartini, Sub Creativity and Community Services, and representatives of the business which exposes the company’s CSR activities and opportunities for cooperation with universities, namely Agus Mashud S. Asngari, CSR manager of PT Pertamina and Nurul Huda, Program Manager Oracle Education Initiatives. The event continued with parallel sessions which are divided into 17 parallel sessions that presents 85 papers describing the results of dedication and research activities from various universities in Indonesia.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Committee Chairman Dr. Endah Murwani, this conference is intended as a means of exchanging information and discussing universities, businesses, NGOs and government agencies concerned with community service programs that have been carried universities and CSR have done the business world, so as to identify and provide solutions to the problems in the process sustainable community development. Sub-theme of the activities were discussed in parallel discussions among other fields, health, education, information and communication, appropriate technology, and environmental disasters and social, economic and cultural.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

The conference is an initiative of universities in synergy programs from the academic world to the business world. Colleges through the concept of Tri Dharma College is obliged to carry out research and community service, which aims to create technological innovation, providing solutions to the needs, challenges or problems faced by the community, engage in activities that are able to alleviate people marginalized economically, politically, socially and culturally and to transfer technology, science and art to the community for the development of human dignity and the preservation of natural resources.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now the world of business through CSR program contributes to improving well-being, education, skills, knowledge (various aspects of social, economic and environmental) to the community and of environmental surroundings. Viewed from a broader development perspective, CSR refers to a company’s contribution to the concept of sustainable development (sustainable development), namely “the development in accordance with the needs of the present generation without ignoring the needs of future generations.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Related to this synergy, further Prof. Harianto Hardjasaputra, Head of LPPM UPH, expects the initiative of the participants to create the cooperation of the various components to produce programs that can be applied to the welfare of the public through the PKM and CSR program.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Expectations for sustainability of the program are also presented Dr. Evita H. Legowo, LPPM Chairman of SGU, by inviting other universities and companies to work together and continue this activity in the activities of Tri Dharma in the future.
