In December 2015, Indonesia will enter AFTA 2015 that made ASEAN countries<\/span> <\/span>integrated and provide an opportunity for the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) can work in all ASEAN countries without visas. This can be an opportunity and a huge challenge for Indonesia, in particular for students who will be dealing with the world of work. <\/span>In preparing<\/span> f<\/span>or<\/span> this, the Accounting Department of the <\/span>UPH<\/span> under the auspices of the Business School, in collaboration with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) to equip students of Business School UPH, especially UPH Accounting student<\/span>s<\/span> with a professional accountant certificate when graduated.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Accounting Student Association (HMJA) UPH see Accounting student needs that need to know the current economic development, and what needs to be prepared to face AFTA 2015. Therefore, through a series of events’ Action! 6 ‘, the biggest annual event Accounting Department UPH, HMJA held a seminar with the theme “Meeting With Evergrowing Standard” on 27 October 2015 in building D 501 UPH.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

The seminar opened with a speech by the Deputy Chairman of the Accounting Department of <\/span>UPH<\/span>, Melinda Haryanto, S<\/span>.<\/span>E<\/span>.<\/span>, M<\/span>.<\/span>M<\/span>.<\/span>, A<\/span>.<\/span>K<\/span>.<\/span>, CA<\/span>.<\/span>., who expressed h<\/span>er<\/span> appreciation to the organizers’ Action! 6 ‘which has been preparing for the event despite the busyness of the lecture. <\/span>Sh<\/span>e also reminded the students to better prepare to enter the work<\/span>ing world<\/span>. Further, Jason Gouwandi, chairman of the ‘Action! 6 ‘, explained that the purpose of the seminar is to establish the mindset of the younger generation to continue to improve the potential to get ready for the global world, and meet the standards and increasing public expectations. This seminar presented three speakers namely Evi Steelyana W, S<\/span>.<\/span>E<\/span>.<\/span>, A<\/span>.<\/span>K<\/span>.<\/span>, M<\/span>.<\/span>M<\/span>.<\/span>, Head of Learning ACCA, Pandu Dewa Sunu, MHRM., Head of Recruitment Ernst and Young, and Julian Tanoto, S<\/span>.<\/span>E<\/span>.<\/span>, owner of the local brand Cloth Inc.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ev<\/span>y<\/span> Steelyana explained that the global economic development that makes the entire ASEAN countries<\/span> <\/span>integrated, to make the people of Indonesia <\/span>compete<\/span> to take advantage of existing opportunities. Indonesia as the country with the largest population among other ASEAN countries should have greater opportunity. With a population growth of 1.2% per year, 60% dominated by the younger generation, which is the productive age to run the business and professional world. It is becoming<\/span> a chance for<\/span> a younger generation to boost economic growth in Indonesia.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Associated with AFTA, <\/span>he added, the importance of the graduates who will plunge into the world of professional to have the appropriate certification expertise. For example international standard certification of accountants. “Students no longer need to study abroad for an international standard<\/span> <\/span>certified accountant because it <\/span>is able to be  obtained<\/span> by following a series of learning and testing in ACCA. With the cooperation that already exists between <\/span>UPH<\/span> with ACCA will provide benefits to students UPH, where students were able to take the test since the third semester and when it passed the ACCA Diploma will receive a certificate, “said Evy.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The second session is delivered by Pandu Dewa Sinu, Head of Recruitment Ernst & Young (EY), to educate students of the Business School to prepare for the world of work. Pandu explained the expectations of management before and after joining EY and companies, along with tips and tricks for the personal development of students.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

According to Pandu, EY expectations to prospective applicants are not only GPA alone but also good communication skills, active in student organizations and activities or can pass a series of tests. For him, being active in the organization is a sign that the student can manage time well, and be a means of personal development.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Next tips given by Pandu is that to be ready to find a dream job is to run the Personal Development Plan which is done through four steps in the first year to fourth year college world. First, build a reputation online, one with a member of LinkedIn and manage it. LinkedIn becomes an online site with professional people most of the big companies so that each student can begin to figure out which company will be addressed later on since the beginning of the term. The second stage is to build a personal brand, which creates a unique self and a differentiator with others. The third stage is to prepare an effective CV, and the latter is preparing for a job interview.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the end of his presentation, Pandu describes how to manage expectations when someone has joined the EY. One way is by showing the best performance of the work to improve the career ladder in EY.<\/span><\/p>\n

The success story of the young entrepreneur is also distributed through sharing Julian Tanoto, owner Local Brand Fashion Cloth Inc., who in his youth had successfully managed the brand and already has 11,000 subscribers and has had two offline stores in 2015. “To start something, not just strategy 4P marketing (Product, Price, Place, Promotion) required, but for me the important thing is 5P and the fifth P is Passion, ” said the young entrepreneur who started his career in the field of online business. Besides a strong desire, Julian also said the quality of products, innovation and choosing the right time is also a key to success in managing its business. Of course, Julian is also implementing various marketing strategies to support efforts such as marketing digitally with Blogs, SEO, Online Ads, Social Media, and traditional marketing such as print ads, events, and Sponsorship. Until finally Cloth Inc. manages the business has begun to be recognized internationally today, characterized by its participation in the Fashion World Tokyo 2014, and Australia Sourcing Fair 2014.<\/span><\/p>\n

The seminar that was attended by around 300 students of Accounting and Management UPH is getting a positive response from the participants, characterized by the active participation of the participants to ask questions to each speaker. (MT\/MF)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
