Prof. Dr. Manlian Ronald A. Simanjuntak, Dean of FaST, delivered a presentation on the event of Dean’s Talk<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Dean’s Talk is a forum for parents of prospective students to find out more detail about programs offered by UPH. During the months of September-October, UPH held a series of Dean’s Talk to introduce the faculty and the study programs. Dean’s Talk of Faculty of Science and Technology (FaST) took place on October 3, 2015, to introduce the 7 majors (Study Programs), which is Mathematics, Biotechnology, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Food Technology and Master of Civil Engineering Program. Present at the event was Prof. Dr. Manlian Ronald A. Simanjuntak, Dean of FaST, and Dr. Helena Margaretha, Vice Dean of FaST, as well as the Head of each study programs. This event took place in the Multi-Purpose Room MYC, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and was attended by 120 invited parents and students.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In his presentation, Prof. Manlian <\/span>explained the importance of parents to understand the educational institutions and courses that will be taken by their child. For example in terms of accreditation, he said that all that is in the FaST Study Programs has been well-accredited. FaST UPH carries the university’s vision as committed Christian educational institutions to produce graduates that have <\/span>the power to compete. For that, <\/span>FaST<\/span> UPH is very concern in the development of science and technology through research conducted at universities and research institutions that are partnering, such as LIPI. Research results are not only for academic purposes but is also intended to influence government policy, in cooperation with the departments or ministries concerned as a contribution to the state. FaST is also active in producing scientific papers in national and international journals, as well as the consistent achievement in science Olympiad competition at the national level.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Danny Laurent,<\/span> Biotechnology, FaST UPH 2009<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/td>\n

On that occasion, also present an alumni of FaST, Danny Laurent (Biotechnology 2009), who gave testimony as a grantee of scholarship from Indonesia government, to continue doctoral and masters studies at the University of Edinburgh (UoE), Scotland. Danny tells the experience during a lecture on Biotechnology UPH where he got a chance to do research, produce scientific papers as well as followed a few of national-level science competitions. Campus learning facilities and environment at UPH are very supporting. The experience prepared Danny to study abroad. Job opportunities are also wide open because of the knowledge learned can be applied in the fields of healthcare, pharmaceutical industry, education or research.<\/span><\/div>\n

Prof. Manlian also reminded parents to guide children to choose study programs that match childrens’ interests and vocation. After the presentation, parents and prospective students were given the opportunity to consult directly with each head of study program the interest of prospective students. (RH\/MF)
