UPH Festival 22 presented Parents Gathering on Saturday, August 22, 2015 by inviting all parents of the new students. Approximately 2000 parents that attended the session showed seriousness and attention to their children and education institution they trusted their children into, which is UPH. The parents came from various area of Indonesia. Besides Jabodetabek, some parents came from North Sulawesi, North Sumatera, Maluku, NTT, and other areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Opening the speech, Dr. (Hon) James T. Riady congratulated the parents for having their children in UPH. He also shared that it is an honor for UPH to be trusted to educate the children of the attending parents. In his seminar, James shared about three essential pillars to be success. The three pillars consisted of family, house of worship, and schools. ?Parents (family) have the main responsibility of their children. I hope all the parents do not set their children free uncontrollably. They rather are guided in academic, in socializing especially dating, and in internal family relationship. Be a best friend for them. Do not use violence. The husbands also play a big role in guiding and spending time for their children,? he stated firmly. James also gave advice to the parents about worship houses. ?Specifically for the Christians, choose the right church. Do not chose based on nice music or convenience, but you have to see either the doctrine is strong and righteous or not, either the preacher lives righteously and can be a role model or not, either the church has a fighting spirit or not.? Talking about school, according to James, UPH is only a constructor. The main responsibility is still in the parents? hand. But he convinced the parents that UPH would do the best for the children.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event was continued with question and answer and critic and suggestion session from parents. So many positive suggestions and critic came from the parents. There was parent that cared and supported the policy, which forbids smoking and drugs. The parent even suggested UPH to expand the policy to external environment of campus such as Benton, Mall, and other nearby areas. There was parent who wanted to trust their child to MYC UPH but late in registration, thus expecting the expansion of dormitory facilities. Another story came from the parent who expected the development of shuttle bus facility to smoothen the transportation need of students. James Riady and Raymond Liu gave a wise and proactive response, promising to develop the facilities and to give the best supervision and guidance to the students, so that the parents especially for those who came from other regions received safety assurance from UPH.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

James hoped that the meeting was not intended to solely symbolize hospitality, but bore a remarkable result and change. Supporting the hope, all parents expected the meeting to be held routinely, complete with the topic announcement in advance so that they could prepare to think deeper. All parents cared about their children and wanted to support their children education in UPH. <\/span>(nn)<\/span><\/p>\n
