On June 8, 2015, 40 students from SMAK 2 Penabur Jakarta visited UPH. The group main purpose is to visit Faculty of Medicine (FK) UPH and Mochtar Riady Institute of Nano Technology (MRIN) research center. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Explanation by Dr. Bernard S. M. Hutabarat, a lecturer at FK UPH<\/span><\/p>\n

On June 8, 2015, 40 students from SMAK 2 Penabur Jakarta visited UPH. The group main purpose is to visit Faculty of Medicine (FK) UPH which is integrated with Siloam Hospital and Mochtar Riady Institute of Nano Technology (MRIN) research center. This group of students and teachers were welcomed by UPH Student Consultant team and was directly accompanied to join a campus tour to UPH main campus followed by a tour to FK campus on a separate location.<\/span><\/p>\n

Upon their arrival at UPH?s new FK building, the students followed a campus introduction session led by Dr. Fenny Chandra, a lecturer at FK UPH. The speaker explained various things related to the Faculty of Medicine, starting from the admission process, scholarship programs and even the learning system in FK UPH, which is different from other universities. ?Our learning system is different from other universities, where if you fail a subject, you can repeat that exact subject in the next semester. Besides that, the majority of lessons here use English as the medium construction in class,? explained Dr. Fenny.<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, Dr. Fenny also explained about the block courses that FK UPH uses, wherein within a semester, there is a maximum of four blocks, each focuses on a different subjects. Overall, FK UPH has 16 block courses, 9 longitudinal courses as well as 13 clinical clerkship classes in the last three semesters. Within its process, students would be given several practices from medical specialist directly, ?And that?s why, when they do the koas<\/em> practice, UPH students could completely understand what they have to do with the patient. Because when they were in college, the doctors have already practiced the way of handling patient directly in front of them. Back then, when I was in another university, I could only learn theories. Instead, I learned how to handle patient by myself directly at koas<\/em>. So if I?m wrong, well? I am wrong,? recalled Dr. Fenny.<\/span><\/p>\n

After that, students visited the Plastination (corpse) Museum of FK UPH that displays real preserved human organs. ?FK UPH is the most complete Medicine Faculty among all 74 Medicine Faculties, both private and public, in Indonesia,? explained Dr. Bernard S.M. Hutabarat, a lecturer from FK UPH who was leading FK UPH Summer Program at that time. These students, who had just seen Plastination looked very enthusiastic.   <\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

In addition, these students also visited MRIN to see the facilities there. This session was led by two alumni of UPH Biotechnology, Diana and Salomo, who are currently working as Research Assistant at MRIN. The two of them explained about the research activities conducted at MRIN as to a variety of majors which is related to those activities such Biotechnology and Food technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students were very enthusiastic and they also obtain a lot of new information, especially about FK UPH, which is really useful for the students who will enroll to university next year. (mv)<\/span><\/p>\n

?This event is really good, especially to add up students? information. But probably, the most interesting thing was when we got to see one of MRIN?s device in operation, or probably seeing the scientists working there,? – Vania Frysilia S.Pd, guru SMAK 2 Penabur Jakarta.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

?My first impression, and probably of everybody?s, when I first arrived at UPH is ?This place is really cool!? and the most interesting thing for me about this place is its facilities, because somehow it feels like everything is supported by UPH.
