Manna Proxia Theatre Performance at De’ Moli?re Show<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Moli?re, or Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, was a French comedy writer in 17th<\/sup> century and has been acknowledged as one of the best western comedy contributors in the history of theatre. Through his travelling theatre La Troupe de Moliere<\/em>, he developed the use of acrobatic, caricature, and pantomime styles of comedy. His pieces were full of intrigue in the form of romantic comedy, and were full of wordplay, ridiculousness and jokes. In addition, Moliere?s pieces aimed to critique the issues of social gaps and the attitudes of the noblemen of his day who were arrogant and often looked down on others. Fast-paced productions combined with simple sets allowed for a close and intimate esthetic distance between the actors and audiences were often the hallmarks Moliere?s plays.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following this same concept, the Manna Proxia Theatre, a part of UPH Art Department, performed the De? <\/em>Moli?re Show<\/em> on March 18th,<\/sup> 2015, at building D room 501, UPH. Performing four dramas from Moli?re?s repertoire on one stage, Manna Proxia Theater successfully performed a story remade to be easier to understand, and often caused the approximately 200 audience members to burst into laughter.

Directed by Fransiskus Asisi Handoyo, the Art Program Coordinator & Manna Proxia Theatre instructor, 26 actors rehearsed the show for 2 months, every Monday to Thursday, from 4-8 pm. To infuse even more festivity into the show, 12 singers from The Light House Singers, a vocal group from the UPH ART Department, performed an a capella<\/em> song entitled, Love Me Like You Do<\/em>, by Ellie Goulding.<\/span><\/p>\n

In an interview with Fransiskus, the Director said that the objective of the De?<\/em> Moli?re Show <\/em>was to assist the UPH students in their development of the amazing potential and talents that they have been given. There are many UPH students registered in the ART Department, so Fransiskus said that it would be a tremendous waste if their talents were not being developed. ?So, I came up with this idea to initiate the show.? Furthermore, Manna Proxia Theatre was eager to deliver a moral message in the form of comedy entertainment, since these days many comedies appear to be somewhat meaningless.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fransiskus had the primary hope that through this show, the audience could catch the message that the most important thing in life is not wealth and fame, rather that peace and happiness can be achieved by Iiving in unity and having an attitude that puts others before ourselves. The show was also held to help further develop the potential, talent, and confidence of the members of the production.(fc\/an)<\/span><\/p>\n
