Accounting UPH Students Attained the Third and Fourth Place

The Indonesia Accounting Fair (IAF) is an annual pledge program of the <\/span>Accounting Professionalism Study, Faculty of Economy, University of Indonesia (UI). The IAF is an event for accounting students to demonstrate and apply theories of accounting, as well as providing a fair and high-minded experience through competition. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The theme of the 16th<\/sup> IAF was ‘The Package of Five: New Consolidation and Joint Arrangements Standards in Indonesia’. IAF 16 consisted of two types of competition, the Accounting Competition and the Paper Competition, which were joined by more than 70 participants from several universities across Indonesia.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For the first time ever, the UPH Business School Department of Accounting participated in IAF by sending three teams, consisting of three members each. Two of the three teams from UPH placed in the competition. The team of Nerissa Pamela, Natavia Kurniawan and Monica Angela, all accounting students from the class of 2012, attained 3rd<\/sup> place and took home a trophy, plaque, as well as a cash prize of 5 million rupiah. The second team from the UPH Business School ranked in 4th<\/sup> place.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The stages of the competition began with an online-based preliminary round. After the preliminary round, all of the UPH teams were entered in the Big 24. The next stage was selection into the Big 8 for a chance at the semifinal, and finally two of three UPH teams fought for the the championship in the final round of the Big 4.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The final round was divided into three stages: the Quiz Contest<\/em>, which emphasized speed when answering questions, the Pandora Box<\/em>, from which teams took questions with the option to answer either the question themselves or throw it to an opponent to earn higher scores, and the Bid and Win<\/em>, which had teams bid their scores to be multiplied or reduced, depending on whether the question was answered correctly or not. The questions were quite difficult and comprehensive, much like the topics of recent accounting cases and theories. While the UPH Accounting team won the third and fourth place, first and second place were taken by Universitas Katolik Widya Mandala, Surabaya and STIE IT&B, respectively.(fc)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
