AFTA<\/span> (<\/span>ASEAN Free Trade Area<\/span>) will<\/span> soon be<\/span> enacted<\/span> in the late 2015<\/span>‘s. The shift in<\/span> the international<\/span> economic<\/span> system<\/span> towards<\/span> a free market<\/span> has caused<\/span> a great impact<\/span> for<\/span> the dynamic trade development<\/span>. As a result,<\/span> countries<\/span> are required<\/span> to<\/span> be able to<\/span> integrate the<\/span> national<\/span> economy<\/span> to the<\/span> free<\/span> trade system,<\/span> AFTA<\/span> 2015.<\/span> The<\/span> free trade<\/span> system will<\/span> facilitate the<\/span> neighboring countries<\/span> to<\/span> come<\/span> to Indonesia<\/span> without<\/span> constraint<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Facing<\/span> AFTA<\/span> in 2015<\/span>, the<\/span> tourism<\/span> industry<\/span> labors<\/span> have to<\/span> raise the standards<\/span> and<\/span> competences<\/span>. There are<\/span> 32<\/span> professions<\/span> in<\/span> the sector<\/span> including<\/span> travel<\/span>, hotel<\/span> and<\/span> restaurant<\/span> businesses<\/span>. Starting in late<\/span> 2015<\/span>, they are required<\/span> to compete with<\/span> labors<\/span> from<\/span> other<\/span> ASEAN<\/span> countries<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As the<\/span> successor to Indonesia tourism<\/span>, STPPH<\/span> (<\/span>Institute of Tourism Pelita Harapan<\/span>) students held<\/span> The 7th<\/sup> Hospitour<\/span> with<\/span> the theme<\/span> “<\/span>ACROSS: ASEAN<\/span> Culture and<\/span> Economy<\/span> in Tourism<\/span> and Hospitality”<\/span>. Hospitour<\/span> is the<\/span> biggest<\/span> annual<\/span> event<\/span> organized by<\/span> STPPH<\/span>. The event was started<\/span> with<\/span> the National<\/span> Seminar<\/span> on<\/span> building<\/span> D<\/span> UPH<\/span> room 501<\/span>, with Dr.<\/span> Noviendi<\/span> Makalam<\/span>, Director<\/span> of International<\/span> Relations<\/span>, Ministry of Tourism<\/span>, Republic of<\/span> Indonesia<\/span>, Royanto<\/span> Handaya<\/span>, CEO<\/span> of<\/span> Panorama<\/span> Tours<\/span> and<\/span> Made<\/span> Suwenten<\/span>, Director<\/span> of<\/span> Human<\/span> Resources<\/span> of<\/span> The<\/span> Dharmawangsa<\/span> Jakarta<\/span>. The theme<\/span> was<\/span> “<\/span>Indonesia is ready<\/span> to<\/span> conquer<\/span> the AEC<\/span> (<\/span>ASEAN Economic Community<\/span>)”. In line<\/span> with<\/span> the theme<\/span>, this<\/span> seminar<\/span> aimed<\/span> to<\/span> explain about<\/span> AFTA<\/span> and<\/span> AEC from both government and private perspective<\/span>, so that<\/span> the participants<\/span> couldgain<\/span> knowledge<\/span> and<\/span> better<\/span> prepared<\/span> in facing<\/span> AFTA<\/span> 2015<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Indonesia should improve the ability of hospitality industry labors through certified training and competency standards. So far, according to the head of the Bureau of International Cooperation, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), Noviendi Makalam, 125.000 Indonesian human resources already have certification of competence. Such a remarkable achievement considering the difficulty and the cost is quite expensive to get the certification.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hospitour<\/span> 2015<\/span> was quite<\/span> different from<\/span> last year<\/span>. The event was held from<\/span> 26 March to 1 April<\/span> 2015 with extra sub-events such as Exhibition<\/span>, consisting<\/span> of<\/span> Mixing<\/span> Drinks<\/span>, Cake<\/span> Decorations<\/span> and<\/span> Banana Flambe cooking demo<\/span>. The exhibition visitors<\/span> could<\/span> practice<\/span> cooking on the spot<\/span> and<\/span> taste<\/span> the cakes or<\/span> beverages<\/span> which they have made. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hospitour<\/span> is still ongoing<\/span> with the series of events such as Mixing<\/span> Drinks<\/span> \/<\/span> Bartending<\/span>, Table Set<\/span>–<\/span>up, House Keeping<\/span>, Kitchen<\/span> &<\/span> Pastry<\/span> and<\/span> Tour Guiding<\/span>. Participants<\/span> who<\/span> attended this event<\/span> came<\/span> from<\/span> 20 Universities<\/span> in Indonesia which<\/span> were<\/span> Bunda Mulia University<\/span>, Tourism<\/span> Academy of<\/span> Majapahit<\/span>, Ciputra<\/span> Artpreneur<\/span>, Petra<\/span> Surabaya<\/span>, Bandung<\/span> STPP<\/span>, STPP<\/span> Bali<\/span>, Bandung<\/span> NHI<\/span> Tourism<\/span> Academy<\/span>, Academy<\/span> Parisiwata<\/span> Medan<\/span>, Bina<\/span> Nusantara<\/span> and many<\/span> more<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n
