It isthe first undergraduate study program, for a university, to integrate philosophy and theologyintensely,&nbsp; based&nbsp; upon&nbsp; the&nbsp; foundation&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; Bible&nbsp; and&nbsp; in&nbsp; the&nbsp; framework&nbsp; of&nbsp; ReformedTheology, among evangelical-oriented universities in&nbsp; Indonesian.&nbsp; In&nbsp; order to introduce theSchool of Philosophy and Divinity to the public, UPH has held a ?Dean?s Talk? on Saturday,26 April 2014, from 08.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. at the first floor of Building D.This event presentsAdriani Gunawan Academic Director of FLA, Hendra Thamrindinta S.Si., M.Div., Acting ExecutiveDean of FLA, dan Dr. Lusiana Idawatii, S.T., M.T., M.M., Associate Provost.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">During this event, Hendra Thamrindinata, the Acting Executive Dean of Faculty of Liberal Arts,explained&nbsp; that&nbsp; this&nbsp; program&nbsp; was&nbsp; formed&nbsp; with&nbsp; a&nbsp; purpose&nbsp; to&nbsp; create&nbsp; graduates&nbsp; who&nbsp; canappreciate and use their intellectual ability maximally based on Christian faith.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">?We believe that, in Christian faith, intellect is God?s gift, the fruit of His grace. However, theproblem&nbsp; found today&nbsp; is&nbsp; that&nbsp; many&nbsp; Christians&nbsp; have&nbsp; not&nbsp; used&nbsp; their&nbsp; intellect&nbsp; maximally?specifically for understanding the truth. Through the School of Philosophy and Divinity, UPHwill&nbsp; train&nbsp; its&nbsp; students&nbsp; to&nbsp; cultivate&nbsp; their&nbsp; ability&nbsp; to&nbsp; think,&nbsp; analyze, justify, and&nbsp; synthesizephilosophical&nbsp; and&nbsp; theological&nbsp; thinking coherently&nbsp; and&nbsp; comprehensively,&nbsp; and&nbsp; ably&nbsp; toimplement&nbsp; this&nbsp; thought&nbsp; in&nbsp; all&nbsp; aspects&nbsp; of&nbsp; life,&nbsp; wherein&nbsp; all&nbsp; Christians&nbsp; had&nbsp; been&nbsp; called&nbsp; toembodied a responsible life of stewardship .?, explains Hendra.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">The uniqueness of this program is the foundation upon which it is established, which is theinfallible Word of God,&nbsp; the worldview within which it is interpreted, which is Reformedworldview and Theology, and the principles by which it is conducted, which are Jesus Christas the Logos of Creation, reason, and incarnation,&nbsp; who unites and hold together all truth inHimself, faith seeking understanding, and Philosophy as the ancilla within this study program: Theology, Ethics, Apologetics, andApplied&nbsp; Philosophy.&nbsp; Hendra&nbsp; explains&nbsp; that&nbsp; the&nbsp; curriculum&nbsp; used&nbsp; will&nbsp; be&nbsp; adjusted&nbsp; to&nbsp; theuniqueness&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; School&nbsp; of&nbsp; Philosophy&nbsp; and&nbsp; Divinity,&nbsp; which&nbsp; is&nbsp; the&nbsp; integration&nbsp; betweentheology and philosophy within Christian Worldview framework, ?Every concentration willinvolve three kind of subjects from the categories of philosophy, theology, and liberal arts?.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">This program is not only targeted toward high school graduates, but also open toward S1graduates who are&nbsp; interested with the&nbsp; field of&nbsp; philosophy and theology.&nbsp; In&nbsp; addition,&nbsp; thisprogram is&nbsp; not&nbsp; closed&nbsp; to&nbsp; non-Christians&nbsp; who&nbsp; would&nbsp; like&nbsp; to&nbsp; learn&nbsp; about&nbsp; philosophy&nbsp; andtheology.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Graduates&nbsp; from the&nbsp; School&nbsp; of&nbsp; Philosophy and Divinity&nbsp; will&nbsp; work in&nbsp; areas&nbsp; that&nbsp; not&nbsp; onlyrequires their ability to obtain information, but also to interpret information, weigh evidencescarefully,&nbsp; research&nbsp; issues&nbsp; thoroughly,&nbsp; criticize&nbsp; a&nbsp; specific&nbsp; thought position,&nbsp; makeconsiderations of values, possess historical sensitivity, formulate&nbsp; rational&nbsp; goals, make planscomprehensively and detailly, and possess a desire for the truth.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">?The professions that can be cultivated are from educational institutions as an educationalwork force or anything else related to education, churches as an evangelist, teacher, or pastor,religious organizations, non-government organizations, companies related to media, training centres that are related to motivation, counseling, or life skills, entrepeneurs, and writers.?,says Hendra.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">UPH is ready to answer the call of God with lecturers who are ready to educate the studentsof the School of Philosophy and Divinity to&nbsp; be graduates capable of thinking maximallyaccording to&nbsp; the&nbsp; Christian&nbsp; faith&nbsp; in&nbsp; finding&nbsp; the&nbsp; absolute&nbsp; truth
