Parents Gathering was an opportunity for build relationship between the founder of UPH, James Riady and parents<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Universitas Pelita Harapan invited parents to attend Parents Gathering on Friday, 10<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span><\/sup> January, 2014. This event was an opportunity for parents to meet and have a discussion directly with the founder of UPH, James T. Riady. ?Your attendance as parents shows your expression of great concern about education for your sons and daughters? said James to appreciate more than 200 parents that attended.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\n
?Our challenge is to train, to educate, and to empower future leader generations which are including your daughters and sons? said James in responding to the rapid development of economy now days. According to James, this development influences other aspects such as politic and law, therefore we will need more leaders from managerial stage and furthermore. This means that leadership and management are important to bring capable leaders to face this rapid development. Currently, UPH is focusing on human management, which means educating their students to be a well-prepared, determined, deep thinker, and able to experience life with vision and value. This can be accomplished through an uneasy process. Thus, James engages all parents to unite their vision altogether with UPH in preparing their children to be the next coming up leader generation.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

In relation to UPH as the highest education institution, according to James to be a great university, there are three stages to accomplish. First is the stage of comprehensive, which is by having every scopes or areas to be learned. Second is the stage of research, which means that a great university has to conduct lots of research for the progress of its institution. Third is to have an impact among people.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

James Riady, the founder of UPH shared the new breaktrhoughs that have been done in 2013 and planned for 2014.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/td>\n

UPH is currently entering the last stage, which is impacting, transforming life. ?A physical transformation is quite easy such as building up a road, building up a building, building up a harbor, and more, however human transformation must be carefully considered? said James.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/div>\n
Because of this, UPH applies a holistic education, which means an education that is determined, mature, not only just putting cognitive as a priority, but also considering emotion, moral ethics, and character of fear of God. ?So, in order to achieve this, we are now entering the third stage, which is by influencing a belief system among people? explained James. This can begin from an education that teaches<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/i>social sciences, humanities, and liberal arts.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

At this gathering, James also talked about the new breaktrhoughs that have been done in 2013 and planned for 2014. Last year, UPH just make an official program of acceleration that enable students to graduate in just three years for Bachelor degree, or even to graduate in just within 4-5 years for Master degree. UPH also provides dormitory facility at School of Medicine to enable students to get used to the hospital environment. UPH Business School also soon will be opening a new master program, co-operating with Peking <\/span><\/span>University, Executive <\/span><\/span><\/i>MBA in February 2014.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/i>In the future, UPH is planning to build a new, modern, complete, and strategic campus in the area of UPH Medical Sciences Group together with UPH School of Medicine.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

This Parents Gathering received good responses from the parents. This can be certainly seen by the supporting ideas and opinions toward the holistic education in UPH that they have given during the parents gathering. There was one parent who has given their ideas of how about giving their students an assignment during the holidays. There were also parents who asked for detail information about education system for their children in UPH. This shows a great concern that the parents have shown towards their children education development in UPH.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
