The title above is a statement from the dean of UPH School of Design (SoD), Elya Kurniawan Wibowo, which was delivered in front of the participants of Dean?s Talk. The event itself took place on December 7, 2013. The SoD Dean?s Talk topic highlighted the challenges that the students are going to face upon finishing their studies. This topic garnered positive responses from approximately 100 students who came together with their parents to this event. The Dean?s Talk presentation explained the curriculum of UPH design education. UPH SoD curriculum enables the student to face challenges with strong and abundant knowledge as well as soft skills education to support them. ?We are going to construct a strong foundation inside every student so that by the time they graduate, they are expected to be able to compete and to excel in the working environment,? said Dean of SoD, Elya K. Wibowo. <\/span><\/div>\n

 <\/span>After a brief presentation by the dean Elya K. Wibowo, the head of Visual Communication Design department Ernest Irwandi and the head of Product Design Department Rio Ferdinand answered various questions raised by the parents ? from the process for starting the study and criteria for evaluation. Elva stated that students are able to finish their study in three to four years span of time.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

In those years, students also have the opportunities to study other topics that could reinforce their main concentration. For example, students from the cinematography concentration of visual communication design could collaborate to learn and work together with students with sound design background, e.g. students from music classes, who also have pivotal role in the cinema fields. During their study, lecturers will evaluate the students? creation, starting from the process, responsibilities over their works, to the end result of the creation. Currently, SoD has four departments, i.e. Architectures, Interior Designs, Visual Communication Designs, and Product Designs. (ym)<\/span><\/span><\/td>\n\n
