Presiden Wheaton College memberikan ceramahnya. Dengan judul ?What do We Mean by ?Christ-centered Education??,? Dr. Duane membahas secara lengkap inti dari pendidikan Kristen di mana Kristus adalah pusatnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p> <span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"line-height: 115%;\">Untuk menjawab pertanyaan apa itu pendidikan yang berpusat pada Kristus, Duane memaparkan tiga pertanyaan penting yaitu, apa yang diperlukan untuk sebuah pendidikan Kristen, seperti apa pendidikan Kristen itu dan tantangan dalam menjalankan pendidikan Kristen.<\/span>&nbsp;<span style=\"line-height: 115%;\">Sebelum membahas inti dari ?Christ-Centered Education?, Dr. Duane terlebih dahulu menegaskan pemahaman dari ?Christ? (Kristus) itu sendiri. Menurutnya, Christ-centered berarti menempatkan pribadi kedua, yaitu Yesus Kristus, dari Allah tritunggal sebagai kunci pemersatu dari apa yang semua manusia pahami atau mengerti.<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 115%;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Bila definisi ini diletakkan dalam konteks pendidikan, maka fokus pendidikan tidak bisa dipersempit, sebaliknya perlu diperluas. Hal ini dapat dilakukan dengan mengajarkan para murid semua ilmu yang manusia sejauh ini telah dapatkan dan mensyukurinya karena semua ilmu berasal dari Dia. Maka, visi dari Yesus Kristus sebagai Tuhan dari segalanya merupakan inti dari pendidikan ?Christ-centered?.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p> <span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;\">Setelah penjelasan tentang apa itu ?Christ-centered?, Dr. Duane kemudian memaparkan pendidikan seperti apa yang mengikuti sudut pandang ?Christ-centered?. Pendidikan ?Christ-centered? adalah pendidikan yang menempatkan Yesus Kristus sebagai satu-satunya ? dan hanya Ia yang bisa ? pusat kurikulum. Menurut Duane, tanpa Yesus Kristus yang menjadi pusatnya, semua fakta, teori dan ilmu yang ada tidak akan bisa dipahami secara utuh maupun dihargai. Selain itu, ia mengatakan apa yang membuat pendidikan ?Christ-centered? spesial adalah eksplorasi dari implikasi Tritunggal sepenuhnya terhadap pembelajaran yang dilakukan. Namun di saat yang sama, hal ini juga menjadi tantangan di dunia pendidikan modern. Ada tiga tantangan yang Duane paparakan, pertama adalah banyaknya orang yang masih belum mengerti dan memiliki visi yang kecil akan Yesus Kristus. Kedua adalah adanya tekanan yang cukup besar dalam bidang akademik. Tantangan ketiga adalah di dunia yang semakin sekuler, nama Yesus hanyalah menjadi sekedar nama tanpa memberikan nilai yang berarti. Duane mengatakan bahwa tantangan tersebut memang harus dihadapi, namun ia meyakinkan bahwa Tuhan senantiasa menyertai mereka yang melayaniNya.
