40 participants ? mostly are prospective students and their parents ? attended this event. In this Dean?s Talk, Agustina Christianto ? Director of Faculty of Computer Science, Wellianto Halim ? Dean of Faculty of Computer Science, Hendra Achmadi ? Head of Information Systems Program, Thompson Susabda Ngoen ? Associate Dean of Faculty of Computer Science, and Arnold Ariwinow ? Head of Computer Technology Program were also present.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span> <\/p>\n

?The current demand for information technology is very high. Nowadays, there are hardly any industries that do not use the information technology,? said Wellianto Halim ? Dean of Faculty of Computer Science at the beginning of his presentation. ?According to United Nations? research, Indonesia need approximately 220,000 IT workforces per year,? he added while presenting the research result of technology from various survey institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span> <\/p>\n

UPH Faculty of Computer Science offers a system of education that does not only explore information technology but also its procedure, working methods, and every detail in it. In his speech, Wellianto stated that the depth of computer science field is about not only technical, system and data but also business field. Even though Faculty of Science is divided into three specific majors, this faculty applies the holistic education where every major is interrelated and support each other to create graduates that are not only ready to work but also to grow. UPH Faculty of Computer Science has five international partners: Microsoft Innovation Center, Cisco, SAS Institute, Oracle, and IBM.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span> <\/p>\n

Speakers were also explaining the majors ? Information Systems, Informatics, and Computer Technology ? in details. Beside that, the study format in Faculty of Computer Science is assignments in team. However, in the evaluation, every individual gets different scores that are adjusted with the efforts and interests in each of their respective fields. Moreover, UPH Faculty of Computer Science?s uniqueness is that the practical knowledge is implemented into the curriculum in the form of Faculty of Liberal Arts? classes. The classes will teach the students how to think critically, develop their characters, leaderships, and others.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span> <\/p>\n

Hendra Achmadi explained more about the curriculum in UPH Faculty of Computer Sciences. The curriculum has the international standard and students could have the certifications from five international partners as well as project management certification.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Various project presentations from UPH Faculty of Computer Science students added parents and prospective students? enthusiasm. This could be seen from many questions that were raised for the speakers. The majority of questions were asking about the study time and how to study optimally with UPH trimester system. Responding to these questions, Wellianto Halim answered that every UPH students will have an Academic Advisor that will help them to control the scores and to arrange the classes? time and choices. Lunch break and Campus Tour became the closing events of Dean?s Talk ? Faculty of Computer Sciences. (ym)
