Chairman of Komisi Pemilihan Umum (Election Committee) ? abbr. KPU ?Husni Kamil Malik, together with two other speakers; Former Chariman of Mahkamah Konstitusi (Constitutional Court) ? abbr. MK ? Prof. Mahfud MD and Chairman of Badan Pengawas Pemilu (Board of Election Supervisors) ? abbr. Bawaslu ? Dr. Muhammad became the speakers in International Symposium on Constitution & Anti Corruption 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n

This symposium, entitled ?Election in 2014: Free from Corruption towards New Indonesia?, discussed corruption cases that are getting worse and their bearings towards the preparation of the upcoming Presidential Election for the 2014-2019 period.<\/span> <\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Concerning the decline of trust towards KPU performance, Chairman of KPU ? Husni assured that KPU must be able to gain trust. Therefore, KPU is beginning to revamp the system by thoroughly checking that the official C1 form in the ballot box is the authorized one. This document is also uploaded into online sites so that people could watch the vote tally process and indentify whether there are any deviations or not. Beside that, the C2 form will have a special signature from KPU so that it is almost impossible to duplicate the form. KPU hope that, in the process of election, every party that are involved in the preparation and execution of 2014 Presidential Election could carry out their duties fairly, cleanly and free from any form of underhanded methods.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Chairman of Bawaslu ? Dr. Muhammad also added some comment regarding the supervision over institutes that are involved in the election. Quoting the sayings, ?power tends to corrupt,? he expressed that there will be no institutions left without any supervision. This statement is to remind that Dewan Kehormatan Penyelenggaraan Pemilu (DKPP) that supervises Bawaslu is not yet to have its own supervisor.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Husni then closed the symposium first session by encouraging all people in Indonesia, including the young generation of university students, to contribute on the 2014 Presidential Election. ?The upcoming election becomes hope for all of us. Because we really have a high expectation over a truthful election, let us all participate to make sure that the election walks in the right corridor of law and never let KPU ventures alone,? he said.
