 <\/p>\n

Pelita Harapan University held its 22nd<\/sup> graduation event on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the UPH Lippo Village Grand Chapel. A total of 818 student graduated from 2 Diploma IV majors, 22 Undergraduate programs, and, 8 graduate programs.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The best graduates are Tifanny Patria from The School of Tourism and Hospitality, with 3.80 GPA; Nathania from the Faculty of English Education, with 3.97 GPA; and, Tetty Dermawi from UPH Graduate School, graduated in Master of Management, with 3.86 GPA. This year trophy was given to the best faculty, that is the Faculty of Education, represented by the dean, Dra. Gunawaty Tjioe B.ED., M.Pd., Ph.D., the trophy was given by Vice Rector for Acadamic Affairs, Connie Rasilim, S.S., B.Ed., M.Pd..<\/p>\n

Attended the event honorary guests Dr. <\/span>(HC) Mochtar Riady, Founder and Chairman of Lippo Group; and, Dr. (HC) James T. Riady, Founder and Governing Board of Pelita Harapan University Foundation; and representing Executive Secretary of Kopertis III is Dra. Netty Herawati, MM., the Kopertis Sector III Co-ordinator; as well as the members of Senate and UPH President.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The ceremony was held in two session, morning and afternoon session. Witnessed by thousand of guests and invitees. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

In his opening speech to the audience and graduates, Mr. Jonathan L. Parapak, UPH Rector, express his gratitude and pride of all the graduates who have accomplished to complete their study. Mr. Parapak also mentioned that learing and education is a process of transformation, renewal, and, empowerment. Thus, the Rector reminds the student to applied the holistic education into the community, for human welfare and better nation. The Rector also hoped that UPH graduates to be innovators and agents of transformation led by God. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

All the graduates are reminded of UPH vission, that is to prioritise true knowledge, faith in God, and Godly character. At the end of his speech, the Rector emphasized that to be an agent of transformassion, it has to start from ourselves. Therefore, a renew mind is required to know what?s best and pleases God, as mentioned in Roman 12:2.<\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

On her speech, Dra. Netty Herawati, MM., Executive Secretary Kopertis III expressed her appretiation to UPH for all the academic and stewardship achievement. Despite all the successful achievement, UPH still have a number of challenges, in this globalization era, higher education institution are required to give an optimum standard of service. Therfore, the quality and management of education have to be improved continuously. Thus, includes collaboration with national and international institutions. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

To all the graduates, Dra. Herawati also menitoned to maximized the knowldege they learned in UPH, and apply to the workforce. She also mentioned about entrepreneurial spirit, to create new employment opportunities.<\/p>\n

Dr. George Mathew, the Executive Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, reminded all graduated to utilized the holistic education they have obtained in UPH to face the world full of challenges, and to do their best.  <\/p>\n

There are two students who graduated with a Dual Degree at this ceremony, from the Faculty of Food Technology, UPH, and, the University of Newcastle, Australia. Lauralia B. Perwoko, she wrote ?Study of Banana-peel Flour Incorporation as Dietary Fiber Source to Gluten-Free Cookies? as her final thesis; and, Isaura Petrina Tjahja wrote ?Isolation, Characterization, and Bioactivity Assay of Crude Beta Glucan From Silver Ear Mushroon (Tremella Fuciformis)?, as her final thesis.<\/div>\n

Both of the students have successfully completed the Dual Degree Program, a separate ceremony was held by the representative of the University of Newcastle, Austalia, by Associate Professor Phillip Geary, BSc, MSc, Dip Ed., PhD., as the Assistant Dean International; and, Jonathan L. Parapak, Rector of UPH. Raymond Liu, President of UPH, Connie Rasilim, S.S., B.Ed., M.Pd., Vice Rector I, Herman Y. Kanalebe, Ph.D, Food Technology Head of Department; and, Julia Ratna Wijaya, M.App. Sc., also wintessed the ceremony with the families of the graduates. (rh)<\/div>\n
