<\/span><\/span> UPH welcomed representatives from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, one of the leading university in Sweden. <\/span>Prof. Andres Hult, the Director of International Affairs, and Maria Rothzen, Project Co-ordinator of KTH, had the opportunity to meet UPH?s President Mr. Gary A. Miller and and leaders from the Faculty of Industrial Technology, Faculty of Science and Applied Mathematics, and Faculty of Design and Planning on Thursday, April 19, 2012. This meeting aims to discuss the possiblities of cooperation between the two institutions. <\/p>\n

On the occasion, Prof. Hult did a brief presetation on KTH profile and KTH?s teaching method. He said that the focus of KTH cooperation is addressed only to the best universities in South East Asia. ITB is one of the universities in Indonesia who have collaborated since 2007.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some of the cooperation possibilities that can be done include students exchange, master program, scholarships for doctoral programs, and research. Mr Ihan Martoyo, lecturer from Faculty of Industrial Technology, asked about the possibility of partner university student to continue their master’s program at KTH. While Dr. Helena, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Applied Mathematics, is interested in scholarship opportunities for students who won an achievement, such as student who won a national or international Science or Mathematics Olympic.<\/p>\n

Concerning the questions on the study program, Prof. Hult explained that students from partner universities are able to take subjects from their master program, provided that the credits of the subjects will be accepted at the home institution, this is due to the fact that all undergraduates program are thaught in Sweedish. <\/span><\/p>\n

Associated with the scholarship, he added that the Swedish government policy is such that it does not allow the university to give out scholarship, however this issue can be address by giving a tuition waiver to students under a student exchange program. <\/p>\n

<\/span>KTH is well known for its research, with a world-class research facilities. One of the current research is in health and human proteins. Thus will enable UPH?s students and faculty to study further about research in health, technology, and medical engineering. <\/p>\n

The discussion also highlighted the advantages of the partnership between the two institution, such as a student tuition waiver for the students exchange program, with a maximum of 5 students per year. <\/span><\/p>\n

Prof. Hult hoped that this meeting will lead to an agreement of partnership of both parties. while the leaders of the faculty will look into the possibility of cooperation that can be acted upon. (rh)<\/span>
