On Friday, October 28, 2011, UPH Interior Design, Faculty of Design & Planning held a talk show entitled ?Furniture and Professions.? Approximately 70 students attended the talk show which held in the Youth Area, Upperground, Supermal Karawaci.<\/div>\n

In this talk show, one of the furniture designers from the Indonesia Furniture Designers Association (HDMI), Satya Brahmantya, shared his experiences on the development of furniture in Indonesia. According to Satya Brahmantya, “you can not become furniture designer instantly. It took a long process. We must know the basic ingredients and materials that will be used in our design.”<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
In 1995-1996, Indonesia entered a golden era in furniture exports. However, unfortunately, in 2003 world crisis occurred and affected exports to foreign countries. At the time of the crisis, exports number declined drastically and many furniture companies and manufactures in Indonesia were closed. Fortunately in 2009-2011, the furniture industry in Indonesia has been improved and developed.<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Through this event, Martin L. Katoppo, Head of Interior Department UPH, would like to invite students and alumni to introduce UPH Interior Design Department to the community by cooperating with media, industry, and designer associations. Later, UPH Interior Design Student Body will hold exhibitions outside UPH so that people can see the works and creation of students and alumni.<\/div>\n

Besides the talk show, there were also exhibition of alumni and students? creation, interior clinic by alumni association, DIMM (Young Designers Interior Design), product launching, and alumni gathering. The event was held on October, 29-30 in the Youth Area, Upperground-Supermal Karawaci.(bs)<\/div>\n

Pada hari Jumat, 28 Oktober, 2011, Desain Interior UPH, Fakultas Desain dan Perencanaan mengadakan talk show <\/em>yang berjudul ?Mebel and Profesi.? Sekitar 70 mahasiswa menghadiri talk show <\/em>yang diadakan di Youth Area, Upperground, Supermal Karawaci.
<\/span><\/p>\n

Dalam talk show <\/em>ini, salah satu perancang mebel dari Himpunan Desainer Mebel Indonesia (HDMI), Satya Brahmantya, menceritakan pengalamannya dalam pengembangan mebel di Indonesia. Menurut Satya Brahmantya, ?kamu tidak bisa menjadi desainer mebel secara instan. Perlu proses yang panjang. Kita harus tahu bahan dan material dasar yang akan digunakan di desain kita.?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Pada tahun 1995-1996, Indonesia memasuki masa keemasan ekspor mebel. Tetapi, sayangnya, pada tahun 2003 krisis global terjadi dan mempengaruhi ekspor ke luar negeri. Pada waktu krisis, jumlah ekspor menurun drastis dan banyak perusahaan dan produsen mebel di Indonesia ditutup. Untungnya, pada tahun 2009-2011, industri mebel di Indonesia telah ditingkatkan dan dikembangkan.
<\/span><\/p>\n

Melalui acara ini, Martin L. Katoppo, Kepala Jurusan Interior UPH, ingin mengundang para mahasiswa dan alumni untuk memperkenalkan Jurusan Desain Interior ke komunitas dengan melakukan kerjasama dengan media, industri, dan himpunan desainer. Nantinya, Himpunan Mahasiswa Jurusan Interior akan mengadakan pameran di luar UPH sehingga orang-orang dapat melihat hasil karya dan kreasi dari para mahasiswa dan alumni.<\/span><\/p>\n

Selain talk show<\/em>, ada juga pameran dari para alumni dan kreasi dari mahasiswa, klinik interior oleh himpunan alumni, DIMM (Desainer Interior Muda Mendesain), peluncuran produk, dan pertemuan alumni. <\/span>Acara diadakan pada tanggal 29-30 Oktober di Youth Area, Upperground-Supermal Karawaci.<\/span> (bs)<\/p>\n
