UPH Festival 18 Committee arranged a seminar about the advantage of biking on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at UPH MYC. This seminar featured speakers Stefenes So from UPH Biking Community, Gunarto from Lippo Village Town Management Development, dr. Leo Alkan N. MARS as the Head of Polygon School, and national athlete for biking Santia Tri Kusuma.<\/p>\n

Biking has many advantages. As one of the ways to promote green living, biking will reduce the carbon level. In line with Lippo Village?s goal to make Karawaci 2 degrees cooler than Jakarta, this activity is fully supported by the Town Management Development. Gunarto said, ?biking is very beneficial to help us create the sustainable city. It is one of our solutions to improve the quality of air in Lippo Village.?<\/p>\n

In addition, biking is good for health. ?Healthy living needs commitment,? said dr. Leo from Polygon. He mentioned how biking can improve the quality of life as it trains body strength and endurance. Santia, as the representative for Indonesia in Sea Games 2011 and 2012 World Olympic also said, ?biking can strengthen the heart and muscles.?<\/p>\n

At UPH, biking community is expanding very fast. Since it was first established, the club has appealed not only UPH lecturers and students, but also Lippo Village?s community. The club rides 5 times a week every Monday ? Friday after 4 p.m.<\/p>\n

This two-hour seminar was attended by 57 participants. It is also organized as the pre-event of Bike in Harmony program at UPH Festival 18 celebrated on August 4 ? 6, 2011. (dee)<\/p>\n
