This seminar invited speaker Dr. Peter Shepard. He specializes in Whole Brain Leadership, Thinking and Learning as well as Human Resources and Organization Development, Teambuilding, Talent Management and Corporate Culture, Change Leadership and Knowledge Management.<\/p>\n<p>In this seminar, teachers were explained about the importance of optimizing the brain in order to reach the maximum study result. The function of left and right brain will develop when the learning process does not concentrate on only one sense. By using all of the human senses, the learning process will achieve its maximum result. This technique is named multisensory learning. This learning technique does not only emphasis on intelligence quotient (IQ), but also other kinds of intelligences.<\/p>\n<p>There are many teaching techniques that can be used by teacher, such as body kinesthetic. Shepard said that the students would be able to study better when they move their bodies. The brain works better when someone moves than when he sits still. Therefore, the students have to be encouraged frequently to get up and exercise their bodies. This can be done every 20 minutes so that the brain will absorb more lessons.<\/p>\n<p>Other technique is by using music. Without music, students only use their left brains when they study. Music stimulates the right brain. When the left and right brain both work in balance, the study result will be optimal.<\/p>\n<p>Shepard also explained that bed time and nutrition also affect study result. He said, ?what?s important for learning and healthy brain is adequate sleep. That?s very important for memory as well. And then nutrition. Some foods help keep the brain alert, others make the brain go tired and sleepy. So, the right food is also important.?<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Peter Shepard has lectured, trained or spoken at conferences in over 28 countries. Shepard spent 35 years working as a consultant and trainer in Organizational Development and Human Resource Management. Right now, he lives and continues his profession in Malaysia.
