Wahjoepramono&nbsp;has succeeded with&nbsp;cum laude.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<table border=\"0\" cellpadding=\"2\" cellspacing=\"2\" style=\"width: 600px;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p>Prof. Dr. dr. Eka Julianta Wahjoepramono, Sp.Bs.,&nbsp;&nbsp; the Dean of UPH Faculty of Medicine, as well as a neurosurgeon at Siloam Hospital, has successfully defended the title Doctor of Law, with a dissertation titled ?The Justification of Medical Actions According to the Law of Medical Practice and Standard Operational Procedure in the Law Dispute of Malpractice?.<\/p>\n<p>The open assembly was held on November 4, 2010, at the auditorium of UPH Medical Faculty campus, with the promoter (dissertation supervisor) Prof. Dr. Indriyanto Seno Adji, SH, MH.<\/p>\n<p>Eka said that in Indonesia there is still a gap between the patient and his family?s expectation with the medical therapy result that doesn?t match. This situation has sometimes led to the allegations that doctors have committed malpractices.<\/p>\n<p>Other phenomenons which often times cause medical disputes are medical service providers ? hospitals and doctors. The increasing number of hospitals is not balanced with the available medical personnel, in this case, doctors. Doctors in one particular hospital are also opening medical practice in other hospitals, as well as in their own personal places. This situation coul lead into what we call ?malpractice?, due to lack of time for doctors to study and go deep into their expertise.<\/p>\n<p>Medical practice cases caused by negligence that are filed in court could also charge doctors with civil lawsuits and continue in long process. ?This fact will then turn medical professions into defensive medicine, in which doctors would overdo checking patients because the fear of being sued, and resulted in extremely high cost for patients,? said Eka.
