In <st1:country-region><st1:place>Indonesia<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> today, one specialist is serving 1.25 million people. Thus, more trainings for Neurosurgery cases are urgently needed in Indonesia,&#8221; said Prof. Peter Black, president of World Neurosurgical Societies, <st1:place><st1:placename>Harvard<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename>Medical<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype>School<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> in a press conference of the Inauguration of UPH Medical School Professor of Neurosurgery Science, in Karawaci (17\/04).<\/p>\n<p>According to Prof. Dr. dr. Eka Julianta Wahjoepramono, SpBs., aneurysm rupture cases in <st1:place><st1:country-region>Indonesia<\/st1:country-region><\/st1:place> reaches approximately 27.000 cases per year. This amount is not comparable with other countries that could reach tens of thousands per year. &#8220;This situation is due to lack of understanding from doctors as well as people. This disease (aneurysm) is sometimes considered ordinary illness. Therefore, we have been doing the socialization to public since 15 years ago,&#8221; said Dr. Eka.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>This situation is getting more pathetic because the medication process of this disease takes a lot of time and money. Moreover, not all hospitals are ready to conduct these operations because of the limited tools and specialists. Most hospitals, especially in the rural areas, are just conducting operations for the accident trauma. <st1:place><st1:placename>Siloam<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype>Hospital<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> has been handling more than 300 cases during 14 years. This is the greatest number among all hospitals in <st1:country-region><st1:place>Indonesia<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>. &#8220;Aneurysm disease ? I&#8217;ve done some comparative studies overseas ? requires the most expensive treatments, and here in <st1:country-region><st1:place>Indonesia<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>, all equipments are still imported. So, we will always try to help our best, but not by lowering the standards,&#8221; he added. As comparison, ICU?s rate in US reaches 3000 dollars \/ day, while in Indonesia, the ICU costs only about 300 dollars \/ day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-248\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uph.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/images_news_2010_04_dr.-eka-3.jpg\" width=\"386\" height=\"288\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>Eka J. At Siloam, when the patient is poor, the doctor?s service will be given free of charge. &#8220;But it becomes a problem, when he\/she is placed in the ICU, since the use of medical equipments is not free. That will cost tens to hundreds of millions of rupiah,&#8221; added Dr. Eka.
