We are given a brain by God to be able to do our activity, think, and even predict the future. Our brain is really an extraordinary asset that God has entrusted us. Unfortunately, most parents do not facilitate, and even kill their children&#8217;s brain development. <\/p>\n<p> Taufiq Pasiak, Chairman of Indonesian Neuroscience Club, tried to make an analogy of human brain as a giant. &#8220;Many parents forbid their children to do this and that. Teachers at school also act the same way, as if all of student activities must be in accordance with the procedure. Actually, they unconsciously hinder the growth of children&#8217;s brain, and it is now our job to awake this ?sleeping giant?,&#8221; he explained.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Awake the Sleeping Giant&#8221; was the topic of discussion in the seminar which was held by Faculty of Medicine Universitas Pelita Harapan, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, titled &#8220;<em>Mengungkap Rahasia Otak untuk Meningkatkan Intelegensia? <\/em>(Revealing &nbsp;Brain?s Secret to Improve Intelligences) on Monday (29\/03) at St. Moritz Grand Ballroom, Jakarta.<em><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>?<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Taufiq Pasiak<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p> A method which he offered to ?Awake the giant? was the ALISSA method.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Amankan<\/em> (Secure) your child&#8217;s brain: give a great care to it since in the mother?s womb until adulthood. ?A simple example, when riding motorcycles don?t forget to wear helmets,? he said. <\/li>\n<li><em>Latihan fisik<\/em> (Physical exercise): train motoric movement, tongue, and fingers. <\/li>\n<li><em>Informasi dan gizi<\/em> (information and nutrition): do not kill children?s creativity. This thing often occurs. &#8220;Our child?s imagination is thrown away useless. Our nation doesn?t really appreciate imagination, whereas it is the hidden treasure of every human being, especially for a child whose brain develops very rapidly.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><em>Sosialisasi <\/em>(socialization): let our children socialize with their environment. Let them talk much, but of course, must be an emphatic communication.<\/li>\n<li><em>Spiritualitas <\/em>(spirituality):this aspect is not optimized in children. Spirituality is the highest noble function of the human brain. Taufiq describes a triangle in which the first leg is the spirituality experience and the second leg is positive emotion (such as patience, gratitude, etc.). &#8220;The culmination of the spirituality experience and positive emotions is the meaning of life. So, when someone optimizes his spirituality function, he will give a better meaning to his life,&#8221; he said. <\/li>\n<li><em>Alami dan dalami<\/em> (natural and deepen): we must carefully examine every action taken by our children. &#8220;Our nation likes instant things. For example, learning has to be this way, taking test should be that way. This is not good, because we loose attention on the small things that might occur without automation,&#8221; Taufiq said.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Finally, he stressed on the importance of optimizing a child&#8217;s brain since in the mother?s womb. Even when we grow older, our brain structure can still be changed. &#8220;Remember that our brains are gigantic mines from God. If it is still asleep, make it awake, soon!&#8221; he ended his presentation.
