Student Achievements

Reward isn't about getting paid for what you do. True reward is when you reach the completion of your effort; it's when you and others can enjoy the fruit of your own work. Whether through competition or student project, we all celebrate the result of student works just as when God saw all that He had made, saying 'It is very good'.

Because up until now, most cases that deal with environmental pollution has only been acted upon according to civil law; that only deals with compensation. Therefore, we think that Indonesia needs an additional law that regulates waste pollution. We are fully aware about this and hopefully, with our participation in this competition, we really show that we care about Indonesia’s natural wealth,” said Marchell Mico Pakel (Law 2015), as one of the team members.

But with the skills and knowledge gained during college, she succeeded in completing this vlog.

“What I’ve got at UPH really helps me,” Christina said. Through the vlog, she and the Indonesian Embassy in Sofia (Bulgaria) want to convey that overseas diplomacy is actually not as complicated as people think and can be done through various simple methods, such as cultural diplomacy. “Through this vlog, even ordinary people can learn about diplomacy, because it is presented in a simple way, such as through traditional clothing such as batik, holding traditional food festivals, also presenting various dances from Indonesia,” she added.

Kusena & Steven William Halim (Medicine 2015 & 2016)

Gold Medal, in Cardiorespiratory Category - IMO 2018

Indonesian International Medical Olympiad (IMO) is a university-level medical olympiad held by the Indonesian Medical Student Senate Association (ISMKI) since 2010. In 2018, IMO competed in four national branches and two international branches. UPH’s Faculty of Medicine (FK) won the Cardiorespiratory branch gold at the IMO 2018 event, when Kusena and Steven William Halim succeeded to defeat the team from the Universitas Indonesia and Universitas Sriwijaya in the final round.

The achievement of UPH’s FK students in IMO 2018 is of course achieved by hard work and guidance from UPH FK lecturers who are experts in their respective fields. Steven and Kusena apply independent learning strategies between their busy schedules. They often discuss to equate perceptions in looking at each case without hesitation. “We also experienced a number of obstacles, especially in managing the time between learning a lot of material and continuing to work on the responsibilities of lectures as UPH’s FK students. But we still try to finish all our targets well, ” Steven said.

Juan Ferdinand (Communication 2015)

1st Winner in the Ideation Category at the 2017 Epicentrum Competition

Juan Ferdinand and Firtiza Octalia Eddy won the first place in the ‘Epicentrum 2017’ competition, the largest event held by the Faculty of Communication Sciences from Universitas Padjajaran on November 13-16, 2017. The competition, with the theme “Youth Responsibility for Indonesia”, was participated by 122 teams from various universities such as the Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Kristen Petra, Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta, etc. Juan and Firtiza are students from Communication study program, with concentration in Advertising. “We participated in the competition in the field of Advertising because it was in line with our department, namely, IMC (Integrated Marketing Communication),” Juan said. Besides its alignment to their interests, the reason for participating in the competition was also to hone themselves and build relationships.

Surely what has been achieved is inseparable from the positive support of UPH’s Communication Study Program, both in the form of funds and the efforts of the lecturers who provide direction and inspiration to the team. “We are proud to bring the name of the UPH Communication and give maximum achievements. This is our last chance before graduating. The experience of studying at UPH provides many benefits to prepare us to go into the society, such as the values of hard work, never giving up, and keeping in mind that God is always with us even on the lowest point of our life. Moreover, when we entered the final round, I and my colleague got sick just before the final day. From this experience I learned that it is not where we are placed, but how we want to survive in that place. So, no matter where we are, as long as we have the will to thrive, we can do it. This is the value that has been planted in me,” Juan concluded.
