 COURSE DESCRIPTION

 PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCE
Philosophy is a critical inquiry into the foundation of reality and our critical thinking about reality. Thus, philosophy of science is concerned with fundamental accounts of knowledge claims. It is basically a deep analysis of the ontological, epistemological, methodological and axiological accounts of what we call scientific knowledge especially in social sciences of which International Relations is a part.
THEORIES OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
There are various theories that the students can use to answer fundamental questions about the reality of this discipline in this era of globalization. The students will deepen their knowledge the positivist and post-positivist theories in International Relations and develop case studies in order to apply those theories. This course will also help the students to make a good and critical judgment about the suitability and relevance of a certain theory in understanding a case study.
INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND COOPERATION
The role of international organizations [intergovernmental or non-governmental] is very important in various kinds of development projects. This course help the students to study the nature of international development programs and how the strategies and policies of donor countries and various kinds of international organizations are built to achieve their goals. In addition, the students also deal with the strategies how to develop policy proposals in order toget international sponsorship for development programs.
PEACE AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION
Conflict is a rampant in society today both at the national, regional and global level. This course will discuss conflict theories in order to understand why those conflict take place and what are the causes of the conflict. There are interstate and intrastate conflicts. The students also learn how to resolve those conflicts and what are the factors that determine the success of conflict resolution. The process of peace making and peace building that lead to the resolving of interstate and intrastate conflicts are also studied in order to help the students in building peace strategies.
THE DYNAMICS OF GLOBAL POLITICAL ECONOMY:
THEORIES AND ISSUES
This cause will deal with three major theories of international or global political economy which are commonly used to explain the phenomenon of interaction or interplay between state and market as two different organizations of human activities. Those theories include: realist or mercantilist, liberalist and marxist. By using such theories the students can explain issues of global political economy whose consequences are far reaching and strategic for the survival and prosperity of nations.
