  THEORY OF LAW
This course will discuss theories behind the reasoning of regulations enacted by the government. Theory of law will equip the students with better understanding on the conceptual bases and principles of law including perspective of legal system.
POLITICS OF LAW
This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding on the policy of law development and enforcement. In particular, how the politics affect the law making process and its implementation.
HISTORY OF LAW
The course will discuss the historical relation between law and regulations in the past and their affect to the existing law and regulations. Ethics and values are covered in the scope of study.
METHODS OF LEGAL RESEARCH
This course provides students with theories and methods to prepare research proposal, in particular, how to determine the legal issues, research methods and approaches relevant for their legal research.
PHILOSOPHY OF LAW
This course examines fundamental issues in the philosophy of law, including the nature and vision of law, its relation to morality justice and concepts of legal protection including the obligation to obey the law.
SOCIOLOGY OF LAW
The course introduces major theories and empirical studies on various aspects of law through social science perspective. The objective is mainly enabling students to master some patterns and respond properly the dynamics of law in social settings. The main focus of this course is how the law maintains social order.
  COURSE DESCRIPTION
INTERNATIONAL TRADE LAW
This course covers liberalization of trade in goods and services as defined in the WTO Law. Non-discrimination principle is a core principle of the international trading system, and a detailed understanding of its meaning in international trade law will be of particular interest to government, NGOs, international lawyers and academics.
INVESTMENT LAW
This course covers economic principles on international investment activities and the role as well as implications of WTO law [TRIMs, GATS] for investment. Analysis of multilateral and bilateral rules will be explored in particular with regard to investment protection and promotion in bilateral investment treaties [BITs] and at the multilateral level. A particular emphasis lies on problems related to investment arbitration and its implications for the development of rules and procedures in this field.
BANKING LAW
The Law of Banking provides an introduction to relevant legal principles and transactional side of banking. The aim of the course is to provide the student with an understanding of the basic principles of banking law to enable them to deal with the real-life banking law issues that are likely to arise in commercial practice.
THE ROLE OF LAW IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
This course will address the key policy linkage between trade and development. It will explore the key legal and economic issues arising from the enhanced role and voice of developing countries in trade governance, including the linkages between trade, growth and development, as well as issues of distributive fairness in trade rule-making, and highlight the concerns of developing countries, especially Indonesia.
