Biotechnology is a rapidly evolving field in the modern life which incorporates technology into biology. It allows cutting edge ideas to be experimented hands-on in various organisms, cells and molecules such as proteins, DNA and RNA. Biotechnology allows the swift advancement in the medical, pharmaceutical, food and environmental industries.
The prospect of Biotechnology in global related business is promising. The hope to tackle various global challenges in medical, industrial and environmental in the future will rely greatly in the advancement of biotechnology. In Indonesia, trained people and professionals in the field are needed. UPH Biotechnology (Biology Department) offers program that leads to the award of a Bachelor of Science degree upon course completion.
In the first and second years, students will learn key skills in biotechnology such as fundamental biology, biochemistry, microbiology and molecular biology. In the third year, students are to engage in laboratory skills training of DNA technology with its application. In their last year, students will be expected to gain real-world experience through attachments at major Biotechnology health science and industries, and work on their independent projects, internships and researches.
