It is known that profession certification is being a claim for doing a job in many business sector. To answer that, UPH Business School corporate with AIG LIFE and Financial Planning Standard Board (FPSB), an institution which chosen International FPSB in Denver, USA to settle education in Indonesia, to arrange Certified Financial Planner (CFP) program which has been announced officially on January 16th 2009.
CFP title is the title which has been internationally recognized, equivalent with another title as such as CFA, CPA, etc. And CFP has been legitimated by Badan Nasional Standardisasi Profesi (BNSP) as a new profession in Indonesia, like an accountant, doctor, lawyer, etc.

?There is only 350 CFP in Indonesia, and Indonesia as the 20th from 23 country who allowed to run CFP education,? said S. Budisuharto Chairman from Financial Planner Association of Indonesia (FPAI), who also a Chief CFP Education Program in UPH.

The program opening was attended by representation from AIG LIFE, FPSB Indonesia, and from Universita Pelita Harapan – Bussiness School. UPH Bussiness School Dean, Prof Roy Sembel said that the more advance or the more global a nation, the more important to achieve an international certification for a financial planner, or the people who work in financial service.

Prof. Roy Sembel statement sound similar with Bimal Balasingham, Deputy GM AIG LIFE. ?In the ten next years, personal relationship, interpreneurship and professional relationship are not going to be enough but qualification is more important.?

To get CFP, participant must have S1 certificate and at least three years experienced in Financial Planner sector. Special for university student, the experience can be changed with being a clerk at financial company, such as bank, insurance, security, etc, and the CFP title will be awarded after the student has finishing their S1.

The first class from CFP program is participated with 40 AIG LIFE agencies. And later, another class will be held for public and UPH student who still going through their S1 or S2.
