Universitas Pelita Harapan invited an economy expert, F. Chapman Taylor, to speak about business strategy in an exclusive seminar entitled Global Dynamics and Perspectives on Friday (1/05). One of the business strategies he suggested was that entrepreneurs should focus more on supply than demand.
?Sometimes people look at only one side of the equation. Only the truly smart people would think not only on the demand side, but also the supply side,? he said.
The Senior Vice President of Capital International Research in US stated that during this crisis, entrepreneurs will succeed if they understand what they are good at and practice their skills profesionally.
?In the investment industry, people will look at Indonesia as a starting point. To compete, you have to focus and understand what you are really good at, enjoy what you do, and be passionate,? said Taylor.
The seminar was attended by entrepreneurs from several companies in Indonesia, UPH lecturers and also students. For students, Taylor suggested that in the business world, one most important thing is humility and the ability to build relationships with others.
?You should have a very broad perspective. We are now dealing with various people who came from various backgrounds, just like Indonesia?s diversity. We should learn to know and understand your neighbors,? he suggested.
