?Padjajaran Law Fair? consisted of two events, which are National Law Debating Competition and Legislative Drafting Competition, in which 17 universities from all over Indonesia participated.
Lippo Village (27/5) – Bobby Steven, Nicolas Surya and Yohana Fifinella managed glorify their university, Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) by winning the National Law Debating Competition in an event called ?Padjajaran Law Fair?, which was held in Universitas Padjajaran ? Bandung, Senin (24/5).
?Padjajaran Law Fair? consisted of two events, which are National Law Debating Competition, and Legislative Drafting Competition, in which 17 universities from all over Indonesia participated. Competitions which adopted law issues such as Human Rights, Political Law, State Law, Ministrial Law, and Electionary System, were also a way of honoring Prof. Sri Soemantri, of her thoughts and ideas which had big impacts to the development of Indonesian State Law.
Other universities which participated in the competitions were Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Tarumanegara, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Universitas Pancasila, Universitas Nasional, Universitas Pattimura, Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah, Universitas Islam Bandung, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Universitas Hasanuddin, Universitas Negeri Sebelas Maret, and Universitas Trisakti.
Yohana Fifinella, a winner of the competition who is currently in her second year of study at UPH, stated that the competition not only trained how to think and debate, but also grew the students? interest to learn and know more about Indonesia?s law of the state.
Meray Hendrik, a lecturer in UPH?s Faculty of Law who was also the trainer of UPH?s law debating team, stressed the importance of learning Indonesia?s ordinance and state law, ?State law and political law issues are one of the main issues of how someone understands the national law, especially those which are related to the constitution. We also hope, who knows, that the students may become leaders in the government.?
The debating team of UPH?s Faculty of Law also managed to win various debating competitions both in national and international scope, such as World Moot Court Competition, National Debating Competition held by Universitas Pancasila and Universitas Trisakti. The Law Faculty of UPH is planning to hold a similar national law debating competition, which will involve a lot of Indonesian Universities.
