International Relations Students Received Appreciation Certificates From Ouachita Baptist University

These certificates were given to represent OBU?s appreciation to these student?s excellent performances.


Olivia Husli Basrin and Mariska Makmud receive certificates from Ouachita Baptist University (OBU) – USA

Olivia Husli Basrin, Mariska Makmud, and Gina Karina from International Relations Department, UPH?s Faculty of Sosial and Political Sciences (FISIP-UPH) received one President?s List certificate and two Dean?s List certificates from Ouachita Baptist University (OBU) ? USA.

These certificates were given Tuesday (16/6) and represent OBU?s appreciation to these student?s excellent performances.

?This accomplishment showed that the UPH students were exemplary students and performed at the highest possible level academically. In addition, their character and interpersonal skills endeared them to faculty and students alike and demonstrated that study abroad programs, such as this one between UPH and OBU, enrich the lives of students and faculty on both campuses said Assistant to the President of OBU, Ian Cosh.

UPH and OBU had both signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) on September 2007. These three students had undergo the first batch of the exchange student program between the two universities for one whole semester since August to December 2008.

According to UPH?s International Relations Head of Department, Edwin Tambunan, these certificates handover shows that the curriculum in UPH?s International Relations department is accredited by other international standardized university.

?This accomplishment had shown that our curriculum that we provide to the students suits other international universities? curriculum. Therefore we are able to graduate students will not lose competing with other qualified students,? said Tambunan.

Tambunan also hoped that this will be an added point for the student?s qualifications when they look for jobs in the future.

Aside from cooperating with OBU, FISIP-UPH also cooperates on a students exchange program with La Trobe University-Australia for one semester. Now four International Relations students is studying there since January 2009 and will continue their study at UPH on July.
