We certainly agree that Indonesian culture and Natural Resources are very rich and varied, but how come the tourism sector in our beloved archipelago is not growing as expected? According to the Deputy Director of Planning and Law, Directorate General of Tourism Destination Development, Ministry of Culture and Tourism ? Frans Teguh, one thing that has not been taken seriously was the packaging.

“Product development is becoming a serious problem. All tourism stakeholders must figure out how to package Indonesia?s tourism, culture and natural resources then transform them into a product,” he said in a seminar held by Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Pelita Harapan titled “Today?s Tourism Trend” on Wednesday (21/04) at MYC Multipurpose Room, UPH Campus Lippo Village.
Indonesian Tourism needs innovators or creators who can create competitive power with foreign tourism. “ |
One thing that should be remembered by all tourism stakeholders is the essence of tourism, that is the travel experience itself. “Tourism is not only about pleasure and leisure. This paradigm should be improved, because tourism is meant to make human life more meaningful as well. There should be a special uniqueness of every tourist attraction,” he added.
This seminar also presented Teguh Amor Patria from Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Bandung and webmaster Indonesia World Heritage Youth Network Organization William Tekimam. They have concerns on introducing Indonesian culture and heritage, especially through the growing information technology today. (cyn)
