In his paper Clouston, briefly wrote 26 researches on culture learning and teaching done globally, in Japan, Taiwan, Korea, USA, Russia, Belgium, Italy, Hungary, Spain and Australia since 2000 to 2009. The extensive researches with various themes on teaching, learning, student and teacher attitudes, methods, assessment, technology and materials are especially helpful to give insight to English teachers to understand the importance of culture in learning and teaching second language. So far, there are no studies in the sociolinguistics aspects of learning and teaching bahasa Indonesia as a second language, therefore, Clouston hoped that teachers would be interested in doing a research on the social and cultural aspects of learning and teaching bahasa Indonesia as a second language in the future.
