Welcoming New Students of Teacher College UPH |
A special event was held on Monday, 9 August 2010 to welcome new Teachers College (TC) students. A total of 74 students came from various Indonesian islands such as Sumatera, Kalimantan, Java, Sulawesi and Papua. Most people consider being a teacher is useless because it doesn?t give a big salary as well as less prestigious. But these new students came with one intention; it is to serve as teachers. To value the passion of these teacher candidates, the seniors played a touching drama entitled: ?God?s Calling to Fimm?. Some of them had also performed traditional dances from Sulawesi, Java, Batak and Papua. President of UPH, Gary A. Miller, in his speech said that he is proud to see the teacher candidates who will share knowledge for the world?s sustainability. While Connie Rasilim, the TC Dean, in his message for the students claimed that everything should come from the heart. Parents, seniors, as well as representatives from all faculties also attended the event. New students are expected to be more familiar with the campus environment and activities.
