IPEKA International School as the First Winner of Web Design Competition | All winners of Programming & Logic Competition with the lecturers of Faculty of Computer Science |
? UPH Faculty of Computer Science once again held a PRODIGY Competition (Programming & Logic and Web-Design Competitions) for High School students. These have been an annual events by Faculty of Computer Science, and this year they were held at building D, UPH campus, on Wednesday (25/08). Last year similar competitions focused more on programming, and this year the focus was on web design. According to Astrid, the Committee Chairman & a lecturer at Faculty of Computer Science, ?This competition is to give opportunities to participants in developing talents and interests, especially in computer field, and at the same time give appreciation on their creations.? This is in line with one of the concentrations offered at UPH Faculty of Computer Science. In addition to competitions, PRODIGY also gave a general workshop about computer and web-design. So, besides competing, participants also gained further knowledge on computer field. Binus School International, IPEKA International School, SMA Atisa Dipamkara, SMAK 7 Penabur, SMAK 1 Penabur Cirebon, SMAN 8 Jakarta, and SMA Regina Pacis Bogor were among the participants of Web design competition. Meanwhile, Prolog participants were about 40 people. Before starting these competitions, all participants got the chance to see a presentation about computer and general look of computer science faculty. After that, participants were divided according to the competitions being followed. For the Web design competition, all participants were required to present their Web-design creations. Meanwhile, for Prolog competition, there was a written competition. Both competitions were evaluated by competent jury who are also UPH lecturers. After going through a qualification round as well as a final round, the jury finally came up with winners of the Web-design competition: the first winner was IPEKA International School with the web ?Get, Set, Green?; SMAK 7 Penabur as the first runner up, and the second runner up was SMA Ketapang 2. All winners got prizes of some money as well as trophies. For Prolog competition, the highest point was achieved by Jessica Handojo (SMA Santa Ursula Jakarta), and then followed by Ahmad Zaky (SMAN 8 Jakarta) and Jennifer Santoso (SMAK 1 Penabur) as the second runner up. A little bit different with the Web-design competition, besides getting some money and trophies, all Prolog competition winners got scholarship offers to study at UPH Faculty of Computer Science. Several teachers who accompanied their students in the competitions commented positively on this competition, because besides being channels to develop students? talents and interests, these competitions could also motivate students to create something new and original.
