UPH & Nagaswara are organizing a music festival for SMA (Senior High) students of Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi). Nagaswara has been one of music labels being trusted as artists? management for Kerispatih, Intan Nuraini, and other famous artists. The festival which is meant for SMA students is the first one ever being held by a professional music label.

Through this event UPH aims to direct the musical talent of the young generation in a positive, sportsmanlike, and healthy way. This is connected with the ?STAY AWAY? campaign, that is a movement to urge young people to stay away from the danger of cigarette, drugs, free sex, and HIV/AIDS, by doing useful activities.

The premiere of event socialization to SMA students was done on UPH campus, on Wednesday (Sept.20), directly done by Nagaswara Artist Manager ? Uthe. It was also enlivened by the performance of 4East ? a group band being promoted by Nagaswara at the moment.

In his explanation Uthe mentioned several criterias as vital points in assesing music competitions, which are musicality, sense, as well as originality. ?I hope that through this event we would bring forth highly qualified musicians, who are at least representing those criterias,? he said.

There are 3 categories being competed in this music festival, that are solo, band, and RBT (Ring Back Tone). The fact of RBT is being competed has made this event not just attractive but challenging as well. ?In reference to the rapid technology development and the more intense use of cellular phones by almost all people, have made RBT as a popular trend. The use of RBT for the time being is even much more higher compared to the total sales of CD or cassettes,? explained Uthe. A song is usually played in 3 minutes, while RBT is only played in 30 seconds. Here is the challenge, how to make a good song be heard in a limited time.

The best 10 from each category will be made a compilation album. The 1st ? 3rd winners will be included in Nagaswara event promotion. One thing unique from this festival is the video clip making for the 1st winner. The competition will be held on November 11 ? 13, 2010 at UPH Campus Lippo Village. There?ll also be Nagaswara artists to enliven this program, such as Febrian, Jamaican Soul Band, Nixie, Cannonball, etc. (feb)
