Food is a primary human need in order to live. Luckily, for us who still have the opportunity to have food every day. However, does everyone have that chance? What about people who live in the east part of Indonesia? They even lack of food and of course, inadequate nutrition. Currently, cases of hunger have reached 100 million cases. So, what can we do while seeing this condition?

United Nations For You (UN4U) invites the public to participate overcome these problems. Among them by holding a “Creating a Hunger Free World” campaign at several universities. UPH is one of the universities that participate in this campaign. “We have 100 million case of hunger,” said Mitra Salima Suryono, Public Information Officer of the UN – World Food Programme, in front of the UPH students on Friday (15/10) in MYC – Multipurpose Room, Campus FMU. This program was attended by students and also lecturers from several universities such as Swiss German University, Pamulang University and Multimedia Nusantara University.

In this special lecture, also attended by Mispan Indarjo as Senior Programme Assistant UN – World. Both of them are the UN ? WFP?s representatives who were providing in-depth information about who is the WFP, its objectives, and WFP?s programs. Globally, they informed that WFP concerns to the problem of food procurement. WFP has many activities, including food mapping and nutritious food supply on community health centers and schools. They will work actively in crisis time. Their planning is arranged over the short term, but it is more sustainable. WFP also participated in supporting the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals, particularly the problems handling of poverty and hunger.

At the end of this special lecture, Mitra Salima Suryono invite all seminar participants to engage in WFP program by providing ideas that can be delivered through the delivery of online essays and also We ‘feed back’ program, or participate as a volunteer in ‘walk the world ‘ program, survey and research activities.
