The 2nd Day International Conference KSASA 4th at UPH

The Biennial International Conference of KSASA (The Korean Studies Association of Southeast Asia) was held in Indonesia on 2011 at Universitas Indonesia (UI) and Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH).

The Biennial International Conference of KSASA (The Korean Studies Association of Southeast Asia) was held in Indonesia on 2011 at Universitas Indonesia (UI) and Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH). The 4th KSASA International Conference was held on 18th – 20th January, attended by 66 academission from 12 universities in 9 countries of Southeast Asia.

The discussions are focused on increasing in strategies of collaboration research of Korean studies in Southeast Asia, Korea, and Oseanina, discussed in depth for the political, economic, socio-culture, and culture industry. The conference today is divided into 3 classes, and then continued the discussion on the overall discussion.

The 3rd classes are discussing about The Strategies for Collaborative Research in Korea and Oceania, Language Education and Linguistic, and Social Culture and the Culture Industries.

UPH has high hopes for good relations between the universities in the Asia Pacific region, especially with South Korea.

Dr. Gary A. Miller, Executive Vice Chancellor / President of UPH in his speech stated that the development of Asia-Pacific region began to be viewed by the world. For example about the Health Care that took place in India. This should be as a motivation for other countries in the Asia Pacific region, especially in education to pass up the development in various fields in accordance with the conditions in their respective countries. Academics and students are expected to participate in the pull through of research related to the phenomena that occur in developing countries.

Meanwhile Prof. Kua Wongboonsin, Vice President (Research Affairs), Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, expressed his expectation for development in research, networking, and various activities in order to cooperate in research related to education.

Emeritus Prof. Soug-Wha Choi, Vice-chairman of KRI (Korean Research Institute), from UNSW, Australia, an organization of researchers from various universities in Southeast Asia Korea-funded institutions, had stressed the mission ahead KSASA to enhance research collaboration, the addition of new members, and discussion concerning educational programs, and study center to put Korea in Southeast Asia. (OAS).
