Four students from the Food Technology Department, Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) took the first place at the ASEAN Undergraduate Quiz Bowl Competition 2011 held within the 12th ASEAN Food Conference 2011 in Bangkok, June 17, 2011. This team, representing Indonesia, won the first Indonesian Food Bowl Quiz Competition in Bogor on May 21, 2011, defeating approximately 78 other teams from Indonesia. At the ASEAN competition, Jovian Bunawan, Adeline Kartika Putri, Steffi Agustine Chandra and Meiliana Lukman defeated four other teams from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Philippines. ?We are proud and happy that we successfully aced the competition,? Jovian explained. ?In this international round, we enjoyed the chance of meeting other contestants from various countries. We made some good friends and that made the competition so much fun and friendlier, too.? Coming to this biennial event, the team did not know what to expect. ?We were quite pessimistic as we had to face the best students from other countries,? Jovian said. ?However, after the first session of the competition, we were relieved as we knew that all of our answers were correct, and we were on the topmost position.? At the end, the Indonesia representatives earned the highest score with 31 correct answers out of 35 questions. ?Hopefully in the future, UPH will represent Indonesia again in this competition.
