Grand Opening Gudang Desain

More than 50 students from UPH Faculty of Design & Planning were performing flash mob at UPH park

More than 50 students were performing flash mob at the Grand Opening Nora Band as the guest star on the opening ceremony

Flash Mob can be explained as a group of people who gathered at one time and one place to do something like a silly joke, such screaming for 30 seconds, do the shuffle dance, clapping, and it spreads rapidly. This activity was first performed in Manhattan and is very famous around the world now, even some retail company and movie industry use flash mob as a tool to promote their products / services.

This activity is also selected by the Gudang Design committee for the grand opening of the design week. More than 50 students from UPH Faculty of Design & Planning were performing flash mob at UPH park, from the drop point up to the main stage located in front of Building D. Audiences consisting of students and faculty staff gathered in front of the Food Junctions and all over the park to see the event,  some of them also followed the flash mob movement. Gudang Desain, as the theme for this year?s design week, means unique and inspiring box. This event is a place for students to exhibit their work. The exhibition and other activities were held on September 15-17, 2011.

After the flash mob, the event was followed by the remarks from the Gudang Desain head of the committee, Marsha Olivia. Thenthe remarks was continued with UPH Vice President for Student Development and Spiritual Formation Kirk Kauffeldt?s. “Usually we save the best for last, this time you start a new school year with the best show, “said him.

Gudang Desain is the first event that integrate five majors in the UPH; civil engineering, interior design, architecture, products design, and visual communication design. Through this event Faculty of Design and Planning would like to introduce design to the public through several series of events such as seminars, competitions, community, fairs, and others.(bs)
